Game #13 Oklahoma City Thunder at Utah Jazz Monday 23 Nov 2015 @ 7:00pm Mtn (Early bird GT)

I still think Exum and Gobert are going to be special. They definitely formed a bond defensively that there is no one else that can fill that within the Jazz team. After Exum got hurt I didn't even read or comment for a month because in the era of smallball I saw the defensive answer.Exum brought elite speed and length on the perimeter and sees himself as someone special there .He funneled the great PG's to Gobert and Favors.Trapping them between himself and the bigs.
Jazz are trying to bring that speed and intensity back but Neto and Burke are limited and it's like all the length of the rest of the players is less effective. We certainly see it with Gobert .Without Exum guiding the Pgs between him and Gobert ,less blocks which Gobert and the rest of the Jazz feed off.Jazz were like sharks for awhile.

I think the problem is that our best players ARE the supporting pieces. We have no star/alpha dog on this team that can be relied upon to get us 25 pts a night no matter what (even on bad nights like the OKC game). We need to get one. Yeah, I know, easier said than done, but if we want to be a championship contending team, you can't get around this.

This was the whole point of the tank. And it worked in the sense that we did acquire one of the four players in the 2014 draft viewed as potential franchise changers. People acknowledge the defensive impact Exum brings, but they already want to dismiss the idea that Exum has offensive potential, as well. Exum is the key. He was the tank pick, the hopeful star that our complimentary pieces could form around to form a true contender. I still believe in him.

we played one bad game out of 13 games. this happens. even gs had it last year. not saying we are gonna win a championship or anything but let's be optimistic guys.

Hassan Whiteside. Those other players will look like wasteful signings in comparison. Give him Trevor Bookers minutes plus 2-3 minutes of Rudy's/Favors,theres 96 minutes to split 3 ways...

He blocked the **** out of Porzingis on a faceup move that ended at the rim, but started at the 3pt line last night, he can easily play PF - you can put him on Blake Griffin... It's a great matchup vs teams like the Spurs, Clippers and OKC IMO.

The Thunder dunked all over the Jazz last night. Not trying to hear this isn't a good idea. dude's leading the league in blocks by a wide margin.

Whiteside is not signing somewhere to be a backup and is going to get paid a lot more than backup money. We should go after Durant as well by that logic.

I think Hayward can be the Alpha Dog but either he or Quinn is choosing a balanced approached. Not saying I agree with it since G gets 63 million.
Based on Money, shots should go thru G and Favors.....everybody else is sloppy seconds....

I feel like we are the Atari 2600 Ice Hockey Team with 3 balanced players. We need the 1 avg, 1 fatty , 1 super fast team :)

We have a better chance getting Durant than Whiteside. Both are approaching 0% though.

Not really disagreeing, but I don't see Neto being bad on D.

He is good at some things (going for the steal), but he was HORRIBLE on Westbrook last night. Granted that's a tough match-up for anyone, but Westbrook was blowing past Neto at will like Neto was wearing lead shoes. The major coaching fail in the game last night in my opinion was leaving Neto exposed like that for so long. Maybe try Hayward on Westbrook instead? Or Millsap?

Can't play Hassan and Rudy together. Just would not work.

Probably been said before but i think this whole equal opportunity type offense stinks. Run some stuff that goes thru whoever the best offensive players on the court are.

This was just a reality check tho, their best couple of players are on a completely different talent level to ours (and most of the league) The main thing i found disappointing was the lack of fight and intensity.

If we're being perfectly honest, Gobert has NOT improved one bit and its taken some wind out of the sails.
I think he's actually regressed a little. I can understand why his blocks/game is decreasing (opponents avoiding the rim and taking more shots outside) but there's no excuse for his lower rebounding numbers so far. He was averaging 13 rpg last season when he took over the staring role.

I agree...Exum is the key. We are already seeing how his absence has affected our defense. We're clearly not the same defensive team we were last season...

I was at the game and trying to watch our PG defense. What you said happened did not happen, or very little. Westbrook did not get aggressive until TB came in.

Yeah, if Westbrook was torching Neto I had lost interest by that time... which is entirely possible because I quit paying attention to that game pretty early and all I really remember about it now is an endless discussion between the broadcasters about where Westbrook should rank in the list of NBA players. I think they were pretty damn bored, too.

I KNOW that neto did not get "blown by" in Q1. Just watched part of Q3 and no real blow bys there. WB got around Neto with a nice cross-over blow by. A couple of other times WB got an advantage on neto in the P&R, but only for a pass to a big on a so-so opportunity. Not sure exactly how Netos D would rank there, but it sure was not horrid.

In Q3 Neto also had a sweet steal from Durant in the open court when it looked like a sure easy bucket for OKC.

Time to move on from the painful loss in Dallas and get ahead of OKC in the standings by beating them on Monday.

OKC with a 7-6 record and the Jazz at 6-6

VS.

Part 2!!!

I did what I could on my phone! Game's right around the corner!

I know, this will be a trilogy. A mod should change the title to the Thunder-Jazz feud or something, next game will end the trilogy.
