Game #22 Jazz at Clippers. 11/30/17 8:30 Mtn

Jazzfanz seems to always want to blame somebody. Rudy is still one of the top YOUNG defensive bigs in the game and a legitimate franchise player. Offense works just fine with healthy players and when you get ball movement and outside shots falling. Favors is still a great YOUNG two way big WHEN he’s healthy. Offense works just fine when you give him space inside and outside shots are falling. Jazz are blessed to have two really good young big men (plus Udoh) - they have two months to figure out how to effectively play them both (together and w/ staggered minutes at the 5) before a decision needs to be made. Let’s see what Quin can come up with.

Hood put up 20 points per game after he and Donovan switched roles. Donovan has taken on the leadership mantle in less than his first 20 professional games. Jingles is looking like his old self again. Thabo, Udoh and Jerebko all look like effing steals right now. Rubio and Burks are the anomalies - when they play well the Jazz usually have success and vice versa.

If the Jazz can keep their heads above water through December. . . they’re a playoff team. That’s a hell of an accomplishment considering the Hayward fiasco and the short lived non-tank.

wait so archie was complimenting Jerebko in the game thread, and not raving about Burks or Mitchell?

what a surprise

It is almost like someone installed a shock collar on Burks and they hit it when he wants to do a crazy one on three drive to the hoop. You can see the impulse there, then he will pause, move the ball back then reset with better spacing. Knowing Quinn, there probably was an actual shock collar involved.

It was Jerebko.

Rubio was defending Wesley Johnson.

Mitchell and Rubio guarded Rivers. I know of at least a few times Rubio didn't guard Rivers well - one was a three ball that was barely contested and one was a fadeaway shot at the top of the key. There were also a few times when Rivers scored inside and Rubio didn't perform help defense - one time he just stood there and watched.

Ho-hum, another 24pt. game from Donovan on efficient shooting with magical passing and only two TO's.
That was a fun game to watch in person. There's always drama at Clippers games. Shortly after Rivers flopped after shooting a jumper two guys sitting court side must have said something to him because they started exchanging words. It lasted at least ten seconds DJ had to walk Rivers back to the sideline. It was amusing.

Favors played really well. They didn't box him out and they paid for it. I didn't see who got him in the throat but he shook it off and played well. On several occasions I noticed his teammates don't do a good job of getting him the ball in the paint.

Jerebko played well too. He shot one three from his chest after mishandling the ball and it somehow went in. And on several occasions he was WIDE OPEN whether during the break or while the Jazz were running the offense and they didn't pass him the ball. Harrell abused him on a few plays but when Jonas did pester him a few plays and caused a turnover.

Ingles was fun to watch. He was mostly active during the first half. The guy just works so hard on both offense and defense. I know Clippers fans were crying inside with every good play Ingles made.

Mitchell was amazing to watch. Before the second half he was shooting corner threes and talking with a court side fan. The guy wants to win so badly. He's an alpha. Watching him on defense is amazing and I can't believe he's a rookie. And he had two dunks that were absolutely insane.

Rubio got burned by Rivers way too many times and his turnover to Sam Dekker was an embarrassment. Yet he had some good moments - he scored 8 points - I think they were consecutive but if they weren't they occured in the span of under two minutes. I cringed every time he shot the ball - yet more often than not the shot went in.

Burks was fun to watch. Toward the beginning of the gave he inexplicably lose the ball out of bounds in classic Burks fashion and then he had the 4-point play and played with wreckless abandon - which seems to be the best way for him to play. He had some crazy shots that went in. And watching him dribble around is funny to watch because he's so athletic the Clippers scrambled to guard him.

Thabo was great. The guy has a super high basketball IQ. He rarely makes mistakes. All his shots seemed calculated and he didn't take one stupid shot.

Royce is interesting. Amazing defender - he stole a few passes. I know he missed a three but the shot looked good. And his other shoot was from an oop and it showed his athleticism. I feel like he was either told or plays in a way that is similar to Ingles last year - find the open man and play defense.

Watching Udoh run down the court is something you have to see in person. It's like he's wearing clown shoes. He had a few nice dunks though.

Bradley did well. His one shot was nervously attempted after a moment of hesitation. He did have a great pass to Udoh for an easy dunk.

Wolters had a shot where it went over the backboard. It was just bad. But his bounce pass to Bradley was nice.

The refs called the game amazingly well. If anything, they favored Utah slightly but as a whole it was very fair.

Jazz demeanor was really good throughout the game. I believe everyone has bought into the team. Despite Mitchell and Burks playing really well I'm still really impressed by Favors. He did a lot of dirty work and was always active. The Clippers definitely tried getting DJ the ball but Favors was always there and DJ ended up passing the ball instead of trying to bak Favors down.

Great insight. Cool how when you're at the game you gain a better feel for the psychology of the game and players.

I don't see much blame going on. Unless discussing lineups is blaming. Good points though. Anyone of our players has shown they can play really well on any given night and IF they're healthy. But it comes down to consistency which is why Favors, Hood and AB get so much flak.

Based on last night's game, I like Montrezl Harrell's game. I know this was his best game of the season and (based on game logs) he usually doesn't play much but he reminds me of a Tarik Black - guys like this are nasty - kind of what we had with Booker.

Black doesn't play much for Houston, either, because they have depth at PF/C but he plays well when they give him minutes.

I know we don't have room for any more bigs at the moment but my point is Harrell surprised me. And frustrated me - they'd get him the ball inside and he'd simply dunk it.

**** u **** all y'alls been saying this since game one, and y'all have been calling for him to be traded for a bag a chips, and after one good game you're singing a different toon. Been saying it all year, but Burks needs more min, even after Hood is back.
Um no you turd, I backed Burks since he was drafted
