Coach Ty calls one timeout in the 3rd Q while watching a 16 point lead evaporate while his team looks completely lost. Tank on.
Jazz 3-pt defense has been well above average (in terms of # given up and percentage) so far this season. Jazz 3-pt defense has been pretty decent under Ty overall.
The problem is that you're comparing what other teams do to what the Jazz do. Most teams are susceptible to the corner 3. The Jazz under Ty have been pretty average at defending the 3, despite having a poor overall defense (with weak interior D, guards have to play further off their men).Disagree. The stats may show that but it is only 3 games. I have seen other teams get a whole lot of corner 3s. Not good. Over a season they will make them. Jazz defense still operates in a way that gives that shot up time and again.

My point still stands. If he wants to dig up stats showing corner 3 percentage (even better if you can get open v. contested), and show that what he's saying is true, that's fine. Without that, however, we'll have to wait and see. I'm inclined to believe that 2+ years of evidence trumps one person's eye test over 3 games.I think he's saying that we've given up a lot of open corner threes and the opponents have just missed them. So our stats look good, but on court it isn't.
Not that anyone cares, but these are the relevant corner 3 stats this season:
League average: 2.0875/5.35 per game, .390187 corner 3PT%
Jazz opponents: 1.6667/5.3333 per game, .3125 corner 3PT%
If Jazz opponents had hit their corner 3s at a league average rate, the Jazz would have given up an additional 1.24 points per game.
The Jazz have not, however, given up "a lot" of corner 3s. They've given up slightly less than league average (which is fairly consistent with their performance the last 2+ seasons under Ty).
They're on nba.com: Stats (hover over)>Sortable Team Stats>Team Opp Shots (per game or totals, by zone). You can choose years back to '96/'97. I copied some into excel to sum over years and get league averages.Okay, you win. Where do you get such stats?
Amazingly I have not even pissed too much with jefferson, lucas, tinsley, or corbin.
Really enjoying this season so far....... and next year?...... my god, probably best season since the western conference finals with the big 4 (booze, ak, d-will, money man)
Love what lindsay has done with the place.
And the tank even makes the college season alot more fun/interesting to watch.
I'm getting what I wanted and really enjoying it.... can't wait till burke gets back!!!
Watching the game made me realize that, even though Ömer plays for Houston, I really don't like/ hate the Rockets. And I like Ömer more than Enes. I guess I'm not a player only fan, Jazz only fan. I'm happy about it. I'm really excited for the season.
That means character bro, good for you.
Me, I don't have that I guess. I would root for any team Enes went after his first two seasons but I fell in love with Favors (Man crush). And started hating Enes' unending adolescence symptoms. But now Enes says "Ne mutlu 'Türk'üm' diyene!" and how can I not love him too?!?
