Game 3 Round 1 San Antonio Spurs VS Utah Jazz, Sat. May 5th @ 8pm MT --Official Game Thread--

If Hayward starts hitting from deep and the team starts sinking FT's we will have a legitimate shot at winning this game.

None of these things happened and we lost.

It hurts because I expect so much from Hayward. I expect him to make shots and carry us in terms of outside shooting.

Count me in on the "Trade Jefferson" bandwagon. He is a black-hole. We looked pathetic in the halfcourt with him. You could see the life sucked outta the team in the second half when he had the ball. Everyone else just stands around because they know it's not coming back out.

Al put up big numbers tonight 21, 11, & -16 best/worst on the team. Kanter was a +4 and could actually guard the pick and roll.

Season over. :(

I didn't think there were any glaring errors in this game. The Spurs are just a much better team.

FT's and Hayward bricking all of his shots/being a bit passive because of his cold streak.

Hayward goes from shooting 40% + from deep the last 2 months to shooting 15% from deep for the series. His shots aren't be contested.

The error is when you got a wing on defense, who is eyeing down Captain Jack, or Danny Green knowing that there is no other defender to help take him if you go to the post to help when Duncan gets dished the ball because Al Jefferson is playing lazy defense, and they dish it out for an easy 3. Why try the odds on trying to double team a player when the man you are SUPPOSED to be defending is going to be left wide open if you leave him?

When you sign and play for Utah do you just become defensively idiotic?

My hope is that Favors sees what it takes to win in the playoffs and he starts holding others (Jefferson) accountable for their mistakes.

Hayward had an off night on offense, but I thought he played great defense. He needed help on the screens he was getting but he fought through those the best he could and still seemed effective.

One last thought, Al stop shooting outside jumpers.

Either that or its a carry over from Sloan.

Also Burks is too aggressive. Jefferson played terrible lazy defense as usual. Millsap bricking shots from 20 feet out. Favors played beautifully, but he needs to pass out way more.

It sucks when the Spurs are making contested 3 point shots to go along with their wide open shots. They're just a better team by far. I think it gets lost on how good the Spurs really are. They were on pace to have the best record in the NBA ever if we played 82 games.

I meant coaching errors. The players made plenty of mistakes.

Agreed. I thought Corbin's rotations and game plan were spot on. His plan of having Hayward guard Parker, but just go under every screen and make him shoot 18 footers over a 6'8 guy was a smart move.

I thought we were past Hayward's PMSing (Propensity to Miss Shots), but he choked and sucked tonight. I had high hopes after the first game, but he has laid some eggs, and I actually started to want Burks to shoot jumpers and threes tonight and cringed when Hayward shot.

OK where are you? All Jefferson supports please stand up. Now that both of you are standing, please explain in 1,000,000 words or less9(if you can) why you think that fat, POS, wanna be deserves to have a spot on this team... Please include a single example where Al played 1 oz of pick and roll defense. HA HA it's a trick question because the answer is impossible. That's the reason we keep losing. Wish Corbin could see this and grow a brain.

I thought the Jazz played well defensively. Only a couple Spurs got off from 3. The Jazz just didn't establish much continuity on offense. They didn't shoot or score the ball up to par to win the game.

As much as I like to bash Ty, the coaching wasn't horrible today. Not great, but not horrible.

Missed FTs, 3 point defense, and only 4 guys coming to play was horrible.

Favors played great, but you can't rely on him crashing the offensive glass every play. He got his shot blocked by Matt Bonner on an iso. Someone on the team has to score in a reliable way other than Jefferson (not saying he is super reliable, but he is by far the most reliable on the team).

Burks was awesome too. I love his aggressiveness, but he ended up just throwing his body into a bunch of stationary Spurs players towards the end. A rookie in the playoffs isn't going to get any foul calls like that when the defenders are mostly just hands up feet planted.
