Game 4: 11/3/2014 Jazz at Clippers. 8:30PM on ROOT

Don't look now but Hayward is 19, 6, and 5 on 48% and 37% for the season playing stiff competition.
Gotta like that

Also, Hayward is perfect from the FT line this year.

Probably just jinxed him for next game though.
Burks drilling them free throws too

I was super pissed about the officiating, but I hate blaming the refs.

It felt nice to see I wasn't alone in my assessment.

Of course there's a lot of things we could have done better, but it definitely didn't help our comeback.

The Kanter hate is off the chain. The kid actually played his azz off last night.Trey has looked like a lost puppy out there his whole time as a jazzman and gets a pass. Kanter I know cant cover alot of the stretch 4s like Griffin and Aldridge but who in the league does, but he wouldnt be as bad in the picknroll if trey wasnt so bad up top.Kanter plays hard and still gets dissed,I dont get it.why does there have to be a scapegoat every year.

That was the play of the day for me(along with the Booker putback):

One of my favorite parts of that play was Burks's reaction afterwards. He's usually pretty calm on the court, but he was really fired up.

Agree about Kanter. He certainly has defensive deficiencies but last night I was willing to trade those for his rebounding and offense. Who knows tho..

Because every time Kanter was on the court he just got put in a PNR and got abused by Griffin?

Burke was bad too, but I noticed him actually making some defensive plays and some nice passes. The offense can still run with him. Our offense wasn't bad with Kanter, but I never really see him as a cog in the offensive machine. He doesn't pass out of the paint consistently and his main offense goes against the team concept. When he is at his best is most likely when the team isn't doing what it wants to do.

Throughout the season I don't we will see much correlation between Kanter playing well offensively and the team winning.

Guarantee we will see that correlation with Burke though.

Kanter was very big alesque last night.
Put up good numbers, made some really nice moves in the paint, even had a big al push shot™
Defensively left alot to be desired

desire is a good thing.. thanks to Enes for providing it to us in heaping tablespoons.

Hayward with some not so kind words about the refs after his final turnover.

I guess these words are the most random reaction to a ****ing ******** call. I remember Kanter lip-moving the same line after the Warriors brawl.

Talking about brawls, I didn't like the roster not backing up Booker when he was getting involved in a fight against Blake Griffin. They need more fire and belonging attitude.

There was 4 main problems I read around here(shooting accuracy, defense, driving, and shot selection) from people who questioned Burke's ability to be a big time player last season. He has corrected at least 2 (defense and driving) and really 3 because he's really not settling for bad shots like he did last season. The only thing he has to improve on is shooting accuracy. This past game there were some early defenses lapses, which lead to easy baskets, but he faced the leagues best PG and the Clippers run the PNR to perfection. Also he wasn't nearly aggressive. Not sure if that's because his shot isn't falling or because Hayward just increase his level of aggression that game. When you look Trey only took one jumper that was a bad 3 point attempt late in the shot clock minus that 3 at the end of the game. His other 3 attempts when the game mattered was from driving and the two he missed should have been called for a foul as he was contacted getting to the rim. Trey will have to be more involved and must be hitting shots. However it's seems a little one sided to ignore all the other 3 areas of concern he has improved on, but that seems to be the norm here.

First of all Griffin abused all of our bigs! Griffin's points on Kanter were mainly on half contested jumpers...so you have to give some credit to Griffin that improved his jump shot!

Second, Kanter didn't play the last 5.47 minutes of the game when the score was 91-86 for the Clippers...yesterday he was hot on offense, so maybe if he would have played in the clutch time in place of Favors, we would have won the game!

Anyway the fact that Kanter didn't finish the game, despite he was playing well and Favors struggling, it means he is not in the Jazz future plans!

The last thing, I didn't notice Burke defensive plays...the Jazz made a run mainly thanks to Exum defensive effort.

No offense to Exum who is maturing pretty quick but he was facing Jordan Farmer. Vs having to guard Chris Paul. That's a huge difference in talent level there.

Nobody said that we played against 4 teams that were in back-to-back games...I think it was licit to expect one more win!

You gotta give a lot of credit to Griffin - when he came in the league I doubt his range was more than 12-14 feet. He drained a couple of shots with his heels on the 3 point line. Good shot if your defender is giving you 3+ feet every attempt. Kanter hung in there the best he could against an All-Star.

I don't know if it showed up in the Utah feed - when Kanter got called for that illegal screen in the 3rd quarter, QS turned his back to the court and had about a 4 second meltdown. I'm sure Enes has been put on notice that he will be yanked from the game if he commits an illegal screen (as he was in that instance)
