Game 43 - Jazz at Lakers - 1/25 8:30 PM MST, Root Sports

Our offense is pathetic. I get the usual Al was terrible posts, or this other guy was terrible posts, but one thing has been very clear all season long: we get no easy shots out of the half court. Tonight, we did well on the break or capitalizing on turnovers. But possession by possession, we scored 80% of the time on individual efforts. Indy is going to be a disaster.

But it is hard to help ourselves when Hay, Favs, and Enes suck so hard, right?

Tinsley did not have a good stat night, but he actually played pretty well. He was the sole reason we got back into the game in the 1st -- a nice push shot in the lane, a dance with Nash to set up a Marvin 3, a great break to set up a Marvin dunk. Yeah, he threw the ball away the next possession and he's a bad shooter.

The point is -- we have a terrible offense and he actually makes it look better than it is. And he's not very good. Marvin The Small is a worse PG than Tinsley by far, but a better scorer. If we're going to foolishly keep Ty around, then we absolutely have to get a quality PnR PG.

When did I ever say any of those players suck? Our system sucks. They don't.

I think what naos is saying is that if those players were playing more then maybe the talent might overcome the sucky system to a certain extent

There is zero question our system sucks. I stop there. I'm not gonna fault any player who gets limited touches. I'm not gonna write a smart sounding essay about the limitations of that player, or how low his ceiling is. It's Corbin and the bottleneck at Jefferson. I'm not taking anything seriously until one is gone. I'll re-evaluate at that time.

And what I'm saying is no players we have could overcome the sucky system.

So you are kinda saying that a good system with players like jason hart, jarron collins, mo almond, quincy lewis, and greg ostertag
Is better than a not so good system with karl malone, john stockton, michael jordan, lebron james, and hakeem?

Edut: I see when i re-read your post that you said "no players WE HAVE could overcome the sucky system"... my bad, you are correct sir, and im kinda drunk so my apologies

All I would say is this: If you have a DVR: watch the offense with Al in it. And then watch it when he's not in it. It's no different. The ball doesn't move more. Guys don't cut more. Favors and Kanter are getting the same shots Al does (and passing LESS.) The only difference is our second unit as a whole is usually better than other team's second units and gets more points in transition. They're still the same terrible half court team that our first unit is.

How many more games do we need to see the vets play more than the kids? How many more games do we need to lose before Corbin gets the ax? Even Obama is calling Corbin an empty chair

Well that game was a total and utter embarrassment.

Not sure what made me more sick:

1) Al getting absolutely bitch made on the glass by Howard, especially in the first half.
2) Somebody's genius idea to put Foye on Kobe
3) The total lack of any sort of offensive system
4) Watching the starters suck it up again when the bench gets them back in the game
5) The ref's absolute jobbing of the Jazz, though at some point it quit mattering. Still, Sap got murdered on a ton of plays and the dumbass refs did nothing.

I wonder why Corbin didn't play Carroll this game. He just loves Foye do death. Carroll should be signed to a contract. He's a fantastic bench player.
Ridiculous. Carroll is the Jazz's second best wing player, yet he gets no burn.

I'm not disagreeing with you about the system in general. But, I'd claim that the team is far more concerned it touches Al's hands. We'll spend 20 seconds trying to make that happen. With the second unit, they'll at least try the second post option or Hay actually makes something happen (something Tinsley and Foye and Mo are fairly incapable of doing).

But, let's not get side tracked. Jefferson shouldn't be on this team. Last night was about as painful a reminder of that as you can dial up. Why I'm STILL watching him and his antics for 30+ minutes a game is just plain ****ing ridiculous when my team has two great prospects rotting behind him. I'm no historian of the League, but I can't find any precident for the past two years. Mind numbing.

Carroll has been jerked around just like Burks, Kanter, and Favors.
Carroll needs to get consistent minutes just like the other young studs. He has proven himself to be far more valuable than Marvin.

I just don't agree with Corbin's philosophy. He doesn't go with what's working. Burks, and Foye was a brilliant move, it was fun to watch,
and he went away from it. I just don't get where Corbin's head is at, or how small his sack is.

Very frustrating game. Lakers' real achilles heal is Nash's defense, and we did try to exploit that but Tinsley couldn't make a shot, and you know Earl, he's good for about 20 percent from the outside. The fact that Corbin stuck with Foye who was off and didn't play Carroll or Kanter, was a big mistake. Also, could've let Burks run the point and let him abuse Nash with ISOs. Corbin just doesn't have a feel for match-ups, which also was a weakness of Jerry.

Which also means Corbin is still stuck in the 1990's. This isn't barnyard basketball, this the NBA!
