I thought I read somewhere in the books of stannis at winterfell
 
Book readers: Does Sansa not figure as prominently into the books as she is (increasingly) in the television series? I've heard or read this-- can't remember where, though.

Not having read the books myself, I can't wait to see how the Tyrion/Dany thing plays out, above nearly everything else going on. I'm assuming Jon Snow (maybe by way of Stannis' encouraging Sam to learn everything he can about dragonglass as a weapon against the white walkers?) will eventually team up with her as well, in some fashion, and maybe even Stannis.

So much web-weaving...

Yes, this will all occur five seasons from now. Tyrion has a long long walk ahead.
 
Season 5 sucks so far because of the lack of Tyrian. He needs to get somewhere fast and do some stuff.

Not sure how fast Tyrion can go. I am sure first thing he will do not that he is a free man again is seek out the first wine tavern.

edit: and Cersei is an idiot. I think GRRM did her a disservice and made her so stupid and heavy handed it took me right out of the books. I knew exactly where it was going. He wrote it like a kid setting up cards and you know the only reason the kid is doing it is to knock them down.

I didn't feel like this about Cersei. One of best parts of GRRM's writing is his characters are consistent and don't go out of character. I thought everything Cersei did was something she would do with Tywin being dead and all.

Book five has a lot of tyrion in it...... Unfortunately he doesn't do much at all.
Don't expect much to happen with him unless they cut out a bunch of stuff from the books

Imo, no.
When reading the books I never really have a **** about sansa...... I literally had no interest in her story.

In the tv show I find her much more interesting
 
Is there room and/or a need for a "Song of Ice and Fire" thread? A place the book readers can discuss the books and the divergence between the books and the TV series?

Yeah. That's why I was wondering if it would be better to have a book specific thread that illiterates could avoid.
 
I don't know weddings seem to be risky ventures in this series.

The Red Wedding set an almost unmatchable bar.

Only things I can think of that would surpass that is either the dragons showing up and have lunch, White Walkers crash it or the Red Priestess pulls some major voodoo type crap.
