GAME THREAD: 12/9/13, Blazers at Jazz, 7 pm local

DAMNIT!

I caught my other typo, though.

the problem with being the message board police is that you have to be perfect all the time. In my haste to type a message I typed Aldrich instead of Aldridge. You felt the need to call me out on it even though you knew what I meant. In your haste you had a type-0. I can't help but laugh.

I'm just a bit embarrassed for you that in your pathetic attempt to defend Corbin's moronic decision to sit Burks in the 4th quarter that you pulled off the nearly impossible - you made Corbin look smart by comparison.

When Burks was in the game Matthews scored 7 points. Let's give you the benefit of the doubt and assume Burks was on Matthews for all seven points - Burks scored 20!

If that isn't enough for people like you and Corbin who are clueless, if you are going to talk defense, Portland scored 22 points in the last 8 minutes of the 4th that Burks was on the bench - that's 132 points per 48 minutes. Apparently the benching for defensive reasons didn't work out so well. Seriously, try to keep up.

I'm starting to think more and more that corbin is in on the tank. Maybe Burks sat because he scored 20 points.

You have to understand that Corbin doesn't subscribe to most analytic methods out there and uses other...more traditional methods to analyze and react to a game. Portland was getting a lot of what they wanted with Matthews initiated offense with Burks on him. That's what I'm sure Corbin saw. Whether it's the right decision is up for debate, but it wasn't an egregious decision either.

Again, let's give you the benefit of the doubt that what you're saying is correct, despite the fact that it's BS. Portland kicked the Jazz *** defensively during that time Burks was on the bench. So if Portland was getting what they wanted when Burks was in on Matthews, apparently they raped the Jazz when Burks was on the bench, because it only got worse. I'm sorry, but while your defense of Corbin sounds good on its face, the facts or results simply don't support the decision.

More than once is certainly suggestive of intent rather than neglect. Not the first misuse of the guy's name on this board, either. When you're lumped in with The Thriller, you can understand my connection. Or ARE you The Thriller?

Burks was -9 in 24 minutes...
Jefferson was -12 in 15 minutes ON the bench.

Jefferson on the court and not Burks in the fourth was not why the Jazz lost the game. Other reasons cost the Jazz the game. Whether Burks SHOULD be on the floor and not Jefferson is definitely up for debate and for the future of the Jazz, but for this one game, it wasn't the issue.

The real issue is that burks play warranted playing time rather than punishment.

Also we suck and are going to lose the majority of game we play regardless so why not play a young lottery pick who is having the game of his life over an old vet that is not likely part of the future that is playing ok

Great news for the Jazz. GSW lost and Denver won.

As far as the Jazz loss. I don't mind losing to Portland when the team plays like they did. I saw improvement on the defensive end.

Kanter and Burks played great. Burke played solid. Hayward fought back from a horrible 3 quarters to have a decent 4th quarter.

Sure. As I mentioned, I was surprised Jefferson got the whole 4th quarter. Corbin gets caught in the 121 substitution pattern too easily and seems unwilling to break from it, and since he ran with a three man wing rotation tonight, when Corbin brought Gordo back early, it had to be for Burks, and thus the starters were back in, and thus they were to finish the game.

So we are in agreement then..... corbin screwed up

I've never put much stock in the +/- statistic(although I'm sure it's useful when trying to compare how well a guy plays with certain lineups). You shouldn't use it to compare players or to make blanket statements about them. Harris had a +4 and Lilard had a -2. Harris is lucky not to be in the D-league and lilard may make the All star team.

Sure. I'd put more stock into on off +/- than just court +/-. Team was -9 with Burks on court and -2 with him off in the same minutes. Jefferson had a stark difference of 13, +1 on and -12 off.

I will never be as good as you and darkwing at typing on a message board. I try to type as fast as possible while watching the game. It doesn't always turn out the best. Thank god you and Darkwing are there to point out the flaws. Idiots. Why always attack other posters instead of just letting these meaningless mistakes go by the wayside. You would rather makes someone feel stupid is why. When you both get older you will realize that whether someone types Aldrich when he means Aldridge doesn't matter. You more of a jerk to point it out than just let it go.

The nine sentences you scribed in hateful defense of my five word quip spoke less of a wise and seasoned adult and more of a trembling teen backed into a victimized corner. The length of said response suggests you have more invested in "message boards" than I, yet feel the need to devalue the use of peer to peer connection; even if such is intended to promote the standards of literacy, etiquette, and thoughtfulness. Keep feeling the pressure on your back there gramps, even if it is autogenic.

Can we keep the word vomit to a minimum? Jesus christ. That is some well that out garbage I'll give you that.

It's games like this that make me hate Ty Corbin as a coach more than ever.

But then I have to remember that this season, Dennis Lindsey needs Corbin to drive his tank.

So tank on, Ty.

Burks isn't a great defensive player by any stretch, but Jefferson...he's ****ing terrible. Dude ball watches like nobody's ****ing business. The Jazz are thin on the wing, so he'll get his minutes, but there's no reason he should be getting more than Burks (although this depends somewhat on what's happening off the court/in practice, I suppose).

Also, Kanter still isn't boxing out. What the ****? He just refuses to put his body between his man and the basket, choosing instead to try to push players with his arms, putting himself out of position to grab rebounds AND allowing the opposition to get wherever they want. Can anyone offer an explanation? Very confusing.

He hurt his shoulder last year...

Seems to be the excuse that everyone uses when trying to defend kanter.

Doesn't move his feet on defense? Bad shoulder.
Terrible moving screen? Shoulder injury.
Doesn't pass out of a triple team? Still hasn't recovered from shoulder surgery.
Doesn't... Refuses to box out? Ummm have I mentioned his shoulder injury?
