What's new

Game Thread: Denver Nuggets @ Utah Jazz. 7pm MST.

I think Trey will make a good jump next year and be a great 2nd string pg. PGs usually make their big jump between year 2 and 3 right?

Once that guy gets his hand strength up to par and adds some offensive moves he is going to be special. Not, Balloun special, but talented special.

Hasn't died down for me. Did you see that spin move?
Holy crap!
Imagine him having a whole summer to work on his offense. Bolerjack mentioned that Rudy wants to add a hook and a 10-ft jumper to his game. If he does that, we're going to contend in a few years.

That spin move gave me the same big, ****-eating grin I got when he did that Euro step after getting the steal and running the court. This guy is gonna shock the league next year.

If Rudy has started this whole season, he would be most improved player of the year and defensive player of the year.

Rudy might have figured out that the spin is a good way to keep the ball away from prying hands that might knock it out away from him until the very end when he's shooting... It's kind of beautiful. He's been doing it more and more. Catch, 1 dribble, quick spin. Kind of becoming his go-to move.

From the highlights at least Exum seems to have been decidedly more aggressive this game. Nice to see him taking it to the teeth of the defense to break it down then making the clean smart pass. Showing promise.

With Gobert showing some real post moves now, and a boatload of basketball smarts, I think this bodes well for us next season.

With Gobert I am more and more convinced we are witnessing the emergence of a true generational player. Likely to be one of the best centers we will see for a long time to come. And he is ours. YES!!

It looks so effortless, like he's only going 7/10ths here. Hopefully he continues being more aggressive like he was last night.

i think the most interesting thing is that the guards aren't freezing Gobert out anymore on offense. They are looking for him and he is either finishing or getting fouled hard- hence the career high points. Earlier in the season Hayward/Exum/Burke were definitely avoiding passing to him- now they apparently trust him to do something positive with the ball and he's paying back the trust with interest.

I think Joe said something along the lines of "about edited time mate"-awesome game if he has figured it out and Gobert continues his rise-In Gobert we have the star we've been wanting just not at the position we expected, and Exum is going to be very very good--Aussie Aussie Aussie OI OI OI!

I really think Exum's play this year has been by-design (focusing on the fundamentals [dribbling, passing, shooting] and playing conservatively). I think the dude we saw is still in there but needed to be rounded out in order to work at this level. We'll see though.

Yep, that's the big progress on offense. Rudy has learned to move more, put himself in better positions rather than just hand off the ball at the elbow ; and at the same times guards and wings have learned and realised that passing the ball to Gobert in the paint, even 5/8 feet away from the rim, is more likely to lead to something positive than to a TO as it used to earlier in the season. This is wher we see what "collective" progress is : not just players getting better, not juste Gobert getting "it", but players getting to know each others, starting to anticipate where their teammate is going to be. After all this starting 5 has only 25ish games under its belt with Exum at the point and Gobert at centre. This is organic growth as a team. Great stuff.

Go jazz.

Boo to the new and 'improved' espn site that hides the jazz score while showing me tennis scores instead. And hen hides the box score.

Supposedly you can set your favorite teams to get more relevant content. Or you could just go straight to the ESPN NBA page.
