Game Thread: Jazz @ Clippers 11/3/19 19:00 MST

Night guys,
If Conley doesn't pull his head out there may be no playoffs to worry about.

I hope all of next week's practices are centered around rebounding.

He has had one good game so far. Even Rubio had good games more often. I’m rooting for Conley but ****...

This isn’t on the refs. We had the lead and we gave them 2nd chances. This is a huge weakness is our team. And it needs fixing. If bogey or anyone else can’t learn to box out, then you have to end the game without them. Boxing out is **** you learn in jr Jazz. No reason for professionals to struggle with something so simple

Effort can help, but rebounding is about size and strength. The Jazz decided to put rebounding low on their priority list by trading Favors and trading for a tiny 34million dollar point guard. Now that's fine if you can win your games through offensive excellence, but currently at 23rd in the league in offense, the plan is off to a bad start.

Some would say that his other claims were a touch self serving.
Sure, but I don't believe he gambled on his own games. He bet on other games based on how he knew the officials' tendencies and behind-the-scenes info (official biases against certain players or teams).

I haven't been more mad at the team than I am right now in years. I can handle a game where the teams shots don't fall or the other team just goes crazy and makes everything.

What I can't handle is a total lack of effort. Giving up 18 offensive rebounds is truly pathetic. It shows a total lack of heart. Boxing out is 100% effort and that's it. Its not a special skill. Nobody on this team is showing effort. And I can't take a team that doesn't want it.

37-54 including 18 offensive rebounds. Can't win games of basketball not rebounding.

The NBA I'm sure didn't send a pile of cash to get that outcome either.

What? It's a greater indictment to the NBA that he didn't gamble on his own games and still raked it in betting on other games. It would be in their interest that the issue be contained to something as simple as one ref fixing games (which it wasn't).

He went to prison for literally fixing games and then betting on them. Try to keep up.

You mean I knew the guys name and had no idea about him?

I thought he was spread betting and point shaving? Hell i'd cheat like that if I could get away with it. I know for instance of sports in this country who's outcomes are arranged by bookmakers, I have family links this industry.

Mudiay's hamstring loomed much larger in this game than it should've.

Mike Conley was AWFUL...

That step back 13-footer with 2 minutes left in the game was...

What is actually going on?!?!

Couldn't catch this one but whew those rebounding numbers. I'm just gonna tell myself that we'll be fine since the defense and Donovan have been really good. Well, I guess the defense is only good in terms of DRTG and ****. I'm pretty sure I've heard Quin say for years that it's not a stop until you get the rebound. I'm gonna cut Conley some slack since he's playing in a new system for the first time in like 13 years.

I don't like it when people blame the refs anytime we lose. We lost this game because we couldn't stop the Clippers from scoring on offensive rebounds.

That's par for the course for Utah sports fans, whether that be Utah Jazz, BYU, or Utah fans... they all whine about the refs ad nauseam and think that there's some hidden bias going on... It makes our fanbase looking ****ing stupid.

Soooooooo. Let’s have an honest convo about Kevin Love ....
Only way it happens is by moving Joe and Dante (contractually). But it’s a very interesting point, even if everyone hates the idea. We can talk about boxing out, but everyone not named Gobert is poor rebounding, not just in general but for their position, for their entire careers. Nobody even rebounds well compared to SFs. If Gobert contests a shot, there’s nobody there for a rebound. Talk about boxing out all you want, you’re either a rebounder or you’re not. As much as people act like Love would be a defensive sieve, it’s important to look at what not securing defensive boards costs.

If Joe continues to contribute as little as he has, it’s a valid question (for us fans, FO ain’t making that move).

While I somewhat agree, this is 100% on the lack of effort right now. We are standing around watching, waiting for the ball to come down or for someone else to get it. One of the biggest moments of the game was Lou Williams getting a board and it was 100% him putting in the effort.
