Game Thread - Jazz @ Clippers 8:30 PM MTN

Harris had a subpar game ( still had 17 points and shot 3-6 from deep though), however I went to bed at the end of the 3rd quarter and then watched the 4th quarter this morning. In that 4th quarter he looked like everything we could want in a stretch 4 next to rudy. He had one play where he did an amazing crossover dribble that would have impressed tim hardaway, right into a step back beautiful 3 point swish. He also hit an open corner three that looked perfect and another 3 from the free throw line extended area. He has a really nice stroke and good ball handling. I saw him show a decent mid range game as well.

Tobias harris shooting percentages on the season are pretty eye popping. Over 50% from the field, 44.5% from three point land (4.5 attempts per game), and 88.3 % from the line.

They didn't seem to have much of a plan on offense last night. Not sure if they can't execute or if Rudy decided they didn't get to score, but it seemed like Gallo and Tobias weren't involved at all in the first half.

Imagine Tobias getting all the looks Jae does or opposing teams having to stay close to him like they do Joe/Kyle while DM and Rudy run PnR... I think it would work quite well.

Also I have seen a few complaints about Harris rebounding ability but jae averages 6.2 rebounds per 36 and Harris averages 8.4 rebounds per 36.

So Harris is the much better shooter than jae (who shoots 40%, 32%, 72% vs Tobias at 50%, 45%, and 88%) and better rebounder and better ball handler and I'm guessing better finisher and better at the mid-range game.

And we know how good our lineup with Mitchell, jae, gobert, Ingles, and Rubio is so it seems like adding a super duper rich man's Crowder into the mix would take us to the next level.

He gets better every year and would be signed through his prime. He can also post up smaller dudes on switches... he’d add a lot.

Did Gortat even play in the second half last night?

Wait, so they had that conversation while Tudy was destroying the clips on defense in all his glory for them to see and his name wasn’t even mentioned once? Idiots!!
No, it was in the game before the Jazz played the Clippers

I would still like to see what jae looks like as the starter though. Would have been nice to get a good sample size on that before having to decide what to do with the position going forward.

So let me get this right:

- The Clippers could lose Harris for nothing this summer right?

- And the Clippers will try to lure bigger names before they re-sign Harris right?

- And Harris has already declined an extension of $20 per year from the Clippers right?

- And the Clippers want as much cap space as possible for this summer right?

If all that's the case, why don't we just try to trade for Harris right now? Harris could just walk. Its obvious they value him more at $20 per year than $30+.

I’m sure we will make a call or 5... but the trade deadline being early hurts us imo... maybe once they fall out of the playoff race they would move him but prior to that I don’t think they’d move him for just a first. Having the fallback plan may be worth more to them.... I’d keep making calls if I was DL doe.

He's not like Crowder though. Crowder's whole thing is being tough and gritty hustle player.

Harris is more like a bigger Rodney Hood who figured out how to be consistent.
