Game Thread - Jazz @ Mavericks 5 PM MTN

Loved watching Allen and Niang play last night, two young players trying to carve out an nba career. Both played with aggression and confidence. That’s all you can ask from a rookie and DLeaguerlooking to make the league

Exactly what we need out of not only support/bench players but the starters too. Agression and confidence on the court makes this team nearly unbeatable.

In looking at the box score I feel like this game represents what we have/can expect from our team.

Really nice contributions defensively from Exum, Niang and Allen, plus some good offense. And Rudy's focus on offense and the lob, more trips to the FT line...

The future showed well in that performance.

Just take a look at this:

Did Thabo not play yesterday because Niang played so well?

I think Thabo is a dust off in case of emergency option imo. His defense wasn't great last year... it was okay, but he gets beat a lot off the dribble. He's still disruptive cuz that wingspan doe.

He's a good guy to get the juices going prior to the playoffs and think he could be more valuable as the game slows down and they allow more physicality. He gets away with more holding and such than our other guys.

Ekpe box plus/minus always amazes me. He's a great defender but such a nothing offensively... always comes out with a +/- of +10 or higher. It's been a thing his whole career. A testament to all the little stuff he does.

The bench played so well against Dallas Snyder might have been afraid he'd mess up the chemistry. In games like against Memphis Snyder has 'thrown players against the wall and hoped they'd stick' - we'll see more of Thabo in those situations.

rudy "offensive liability" gobert is currently the Jazz best offensive player as well as defensive, by miles. Where are the fools who keep saying hayward was the Jazz best player? rudy was always the best player and he always elevates everyone. Have to be fair tho to mitchel who is smack dab in the middle currently because he has a big role on offense and that role can often times hurt your ratings, but the cogs in the jazz machine are working well right now. They retooled after that horrendous Memphis game.

Plus watching him lumberishly-running down the court is oddly humorous.

He looked like he just woke up from a nap.

does anybody have a clip of the foul DJ did on gobert that looked like a clear path foul?

I wan't to post it.

Didn’t he play the 4 last year. Very few 4’s can beat him off the dribble

He did... but he got blown by at times... might have been on switches but his lateral movement wasn’t great. He was still an effective defender and his offense was better than expected. I think we kept him for vet experience and an injury fill in as well as his contract has value as trade fodder if need be.

Again still an effective defender but no longer world class and if his shot isnt on he doesn’t provide a ton of on court value. If he didn’t lose a step he’s still good but knee surgery at his age could take its toll.
