What's new

Game Thread: Suns @ Jazz 7PM MT Friday

Why did Favors not play in Q4? These things ruin young players confidence, you know
I don't blame any players except Hayward... Watch him. You'll see all he is trying to do is padding his stats

16 pts, 5 rebounds and 1 TO burks.
Attacking all night (like he should) instead of settling for jumpshots.

3 of his misses ended up being offensive rebound putbacks (2 by evans and 1 by kanter) due to him attacking and drawing the defense.

But ya, blame burks for this one.

I have been very critical of burks play so far this year but tonight he played just fine

attacking the rim 100% is not necessarily a great thing. it means that defenders can leave him so open on the perimeter that our already cramped offense just gets worse. They know he won't shoot.

Jeremy Evans is going to be a good 5-10 minute player off the bench, just because he can jump. Get a couple dunks in there early in the 4th quarter in close-ish games when he plays a couple minutes, and the crowd is good to go for the whole 4th quarter. Love how active he is on offense. Defense... someday maybe

Jeremy Evans is the only player that is showing improvements.

The **** Fish? Srs? Burks had an awful game.

He had better than average game. At least he was trying, instead of jacking up 5 shots 2 inches inside the three point line in 12 minutes.

How so?
Shooting percentage was not horrible.... 6 of 7 from the line.... 5 rebounds..... 1 turnover.... good defense

And got screwed by the refs a couple of times.
He was in the paint attacking all night and not taking long 2 pt jumpers like he usually gets criticized for (rightfully so)

I'm not saying he was a star or the mvp of the game or nothing but this was one of his better games this season (which issnt saying much admittedly)

The thing that pisses me off about the Jazz defense is that they don't show any heart whatsoever, even at the start of the game. When someone is completely open for a 3, nobody even considers trying to leg it towards them. It might not be useful at all, but it shows effort. Most of the 3s tonight, Suns players could line up their shots for 5 seconds without any problem whatsoever from the defense.

This.
That's all I'm saying..... he wasn't great by any means but he was not awful tonight like he has been most of the year.

I think he had a good game, but its not the sort of game that will help the team grow. He's not the player the Jazz needs right now. All he does is play iso, attack the rim hard (most of the time pretty out of control), then hope someone gets the offensive rebound (more often than one might think, cuz he does draw bigs to help against him). What does the rest of the team learn from that? He's a good 15 minute off the bench player for a team that has nobody who can create off the bench (closest comp I can think of is maybe Jerryd Bayless on Grizzlies?), but he doesn't help anyone else.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but with that win by Phx and that loss by GS, the Warriors are now a lotto team. In fact, here are the standings in the West:

1 San Antonio
2 Portland
3 Oklahoma City
4 LA Clippers
5 Houston
6 Dallas
7 Denver
8 Phoenix

Memphis
LA Lakers
Golden State
Minnesota
New Orleans
Sacramento
Utah

1) shooting percentage was padded after his late-game buckets
2) channelling his inner CJ, fouling PJ from three-point land
3) Defensively suspect all game long.

I suppose you're right. It's just a piss-off, when you tank into account what he did on the first game of the season-- and now he plays timidly, and poor defensively.

But we were assured by some poster on here that GS had too much talent to miss the playoffs. No matter how many injuries they had.

Stop watching. Seriously you have seen all there is to see.

Lol I accidentally saw this reply while squinty eye scrolling in my phone and now I can watch the game with a sense of peace knowing that the tank rolls on.

Believe me, there's never really any doubt to that proposition once you hit about midway through the 2nd
