What's new

Game Thread: Utah @ BYU, Sat. 9/21 8:15pm MT, ESPN2

See, I'm totally the opposite. I'll be bummed if they let him back early. One of the things that I really do like about BYU is the fact that they make ZERO exceptions for anyone, regardless if you're the star basketball player, football player, math quizster, lead debater, etc. I loathed Skyline for their wish-washy standards regarding the student athletes compared to the rest of the student body, so I will be a little put out if they let Hadley off lite.

What if they are overly reactionary initially when the punishment is first meted out because of say....media influence? They shouldn't have the ability to apply a penalty reduction retroactively? I don't think they are letting him off. It sounds like he had a list of stuff he needed to do to become compliant and he got it done. He's already missed 1/4 of the season - including that Utah game that he really wanted to play in. But even now, he's only been cleared by the University. Bronco might still sit him, especially since they are wearing those much mocked Values jerseys tomorrow. Should be an interesting side note to that game.

I just think honor code should exist but not be a huge deal. Maybe they need to have a bunch of Scout teamers "mess up" (but not really), just to throw the media for a loop. Just put out stories every week about suspensions so it's not a big deal anymore. In a perfect world, you mess up, you take your licks, hopefully learn, and things keep rolling and that process would just be known and expected. I don't know why the world seems to stop every time a BYU athlete gets caught.

You said a mouthful, man. The kid knowingly broke some of the MAJOR rules, so don't give me these lame *** excuses. He wanted to play in the Utah game? Clearly he'd rather drink and pound hookers. The worst thing Bronco could do is let him off the hook. He made his bed, now he gets to lay in it. And please, for the love of any/all gods, stop bitching about the honor code (this is people in general, not just you, Duck). Don't go to or root for a school if you don't like their rules. If you DO decide to go thee, even though you hate the rules, don't be a bitch when you get caught and then punished.

I guess with the Ute victory threads accumulating the way they are it was inevitable the Cougs would need to borrow one to discuss their internal drama. Carry on.

This idea of standards obviously escapes you. Unless a simple concept like going through on your word is just another silly construct to you. I personally would see them going back on their word as a much more significant shortcoming on their morality, integrity, honor, or whatever other word you could use than letting a kid live his life in his spare time.

It's not OK for me to say 1984, but it's quite alright for you to post that. I see.

You ever going to email me that ****, or should I just drop by your house one of these days?

I'll do it in the morning.
