Sounds like he's expected to make a full recovery, and if not play in the next game then the one after that.
Thank heavens. Very good news.

A quick online search reveals quite a few people who claim to have been ratted out, but you're certainly closer to the situation than me. No surprise that the angriest people would be the loudest. As far as I'm concerned these students signed the code and should be prepared to deal with the consequences no matter how they get caught. It's irrelevant who ratted them out... even if that person claims to be "a huge Utah fan."The only one that I'm personally aware of involved cheating at the Testing Center. The girl was caught by Testing Center employees.

BTW, did you know that a person using the same name as this "huge Utah fan" posted information on a BYU message board before the whole situation broke? Too me it looks doubtful that he was a Utah fan at all. Some people say the real motivation is he was upset that SPENCE is dating his former girlfriend. UGLI mentioned that on this board.
He won't, because that's just how it is with BYU. They put themselves at competitive disadvantages when they're already at a permanent competitive disadvantage (do I even need to list what they are)? The only way to be the best is to strive towards being the best and that's not what BYU is about. Which is fine.
There is room for some marginal improvement in the program, but national championships are not and will not be realistic nor reasonable goals. Who wants to let students live their lives, be in a major conference, broaden their student and recruiting base, or decide to stop emblazoning the name of the most famous racist that the church has had to offer anyway? They have that moral high-ground to lose if they did any of those things. Good for them, their asses, and the heads that are in them.
I'm sure it happens. And it probably SHOULD happen sometimes. If my daughter were a student at BYU and her roommate, for example, came home drunk or had a boy sleep over, I would absolutely tell her she should talk to her dorm's RA and if they couldn't resolve things, then the Honor Code office. But what I took exception to was the premise that there was systematic pressure put on students to "tattle" on their fellow students. I've never heard or seen anything like that.
Totally agreed.
No, didn't know that... but why email it to the Utah people then? Why not directly to the BYU athletic dept or Honor Code office? And why wait for (presumably) a month instead of emailing it earlier? Seems like there are serious flaws with that theory as well.
Tell me about it. My favorite part is where they hold a gun to people's heads and force them to sign the honor code.I had to stay at my wife's BYU approved housing before we were married because there was a huge storm and there was no way I was driving back to Price through that canyon safely. Her roommates were not happy, but whatever, we ended up moving in with each other at the beginning of next month anyways.
Personally, I think people should get to decide what is good or what isn't good for them. There are always exceptions to the rules. BYU, much like most religions, want to control people in the most grotesque invasive ways possible.
No idea who this guy really is or why he handled things the way he did, but here's a screenshot someone took of the post. In the emails to the U he called himself Darren Lacy, so there is a very good chance this was the same guy. The post was deleted from the message board soon after it was written. He's clearly trying to act as if he's a Cougar fan in this message, though (talking about "our AD," "our Senior LB," etc.). https://i.imgur.com/gUFBejx.jpgNo, didn't know that... but why email it to the Utah people then? BYU is not the only option out there. If you don't like the rules go somewhere else. I would never attend BYU even if they would have me(they most certainly would not).I had to stay at my wife's BYU approved housing before we were married because there was a huge storm and there was no way I was driving back to Price through that canyon safely. I didn't say it was more likely he was a Cougar fan. I said from the start that you and other Cougars shouldn't be so obsessed with making his allegiance part of the story, but you and other Cougs just couldn't quit saying things like, "I just think it's funny that this pathetic Ute fan waited until rivalry week to tattle on him."OK. Not sure why it's more likely that he's a Cougar fan who posed as a Ute fan to send in the "goods", rather than a Ute fan who posed as a Cougar fan to troll the message boards. But then again, I don't really care that much, either.

You guys suck. Does it hurt knowing we win OVER 70% of the games in Provo? We OWN you.
Now, be good little bitches, and GO AWAY.
