What's new

Game Thread: Utah Jazz v Denver Nuggets, 10/27, 7pm MST, FSN, 1320 AM/98.7 FM

The Jazz weren't really ready to play. Williams went 3 for 10 and was our leading scorer. The Jazz were moving a step slow on every play, both sides of the court.

I am not real worried about this game. Clearly a lot of things working against us. A team still learning who they are and that was totally out of synch, some out of hand fouling (along with some questionable officiating), a fired up team that we manhandled in the playoffs with an inspirational coaching story, and the nerves of opening night that got the best of more than a few players. This was not Jazz basketball and we are clearly a better team than this.

However there were definitely some troubling things going on. I know Big Al had 3 blocks, but his overall defensive performance was terrible. He has to do more than talk about getting better in this area. This team is going to take longer than we anticipated to figure things out offensively, as incorporating Jefferson's game into this system has a ways to go. I know we had an insane amount of fouling going on and it was a blowout throughout, but in no way do I want to see Francisco Elson on the floor so much for this team ever again. I am worried that Sloan is going to get attached to this guy (collins II).

There were a couple of good things though (not many, I know). Hayward looked pretty good. Some impressive hustle plays (including a great transition defensive play on Carmelo) and his offense started picking up once the nerves wore off. Evans looks like the real deal. I was impressed how he was able to come in immediately and contribute. I am liking the Harpring on color commentary thing, as he was telling it like it is and calling out the bad defense that was being played. Definitely glad they have the Utah feed on League Pass.

Tommorow is another day and another game. Lets get our revenge on the Suns like Denver was able to get theirs on us.

I'll say the same thing to you guys as I did to my Faker troll friend, I'm a huge jazz fan and I'm not worried one bit.

Yes, we missed Boozer's rebounding and pick and roll offense, but Jefferson blocked 3 shots and will eventually get his offensive game going. Can we only see him only scoring in single digits this year?

I miss Wesley Matthews, but he's not worth the money guys, relax.

Hayward is already better than Korver. I thought he did fine tonight. Evans actually is making me forget about Millsap...

Deron had one of those sucky games. Aaron Affalo isn't going to outscore him very often.

In all seriousness, I'm not worried. What happened tonight was good. Preseason isn't real. The reality check has been delivered. I expect very different results tomorrow.

How could you forget about Milsap! He was one of the few bright spots out there tonight. He, Evans, Elson,Bell and a times Hayward and Williams were good tonight. Every1 else played bad.

I love Big Al but did any one notice that he seemed soft and not aggressive at getting boards or being assertive on offense like he was in the pre season

Far and away the biggest loss margin of all 13 games tonight. Who would have thought?

To all the fairweather idiots that want to jump ship already: please do. And take PK with you, that bitch is annoying.

...and don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you.

The good news is the Jazz only lost the second half by 2, the officiating was a complete joke, and there's no way the Jazz are actually that bad. They can only get better.

Also, Evans is something. Also, if Hayward ever gets his shooting touch and shakes his nerves, he might be a player.

I think the problem was two quick fouls. He was noticeably softer after that, understandably. Didn't want to pull a CJ!

hopefully Al Jefferson shows some intensity, because it was like looking at carlos boozer play tonight. Why cant he watch some videos of Karl Malone when he played to get motivated? Im tired of these guys not playing defense. He may have had 3 blocks, but he needs to play like he wants it.

AJ will be fine. He's showing his willingness to take a backseat for a bit ... and then he'll be right back to his 20+ - 10+ he's averaged the past three years.

Yeah I agree.
I was drinking and watching the game with my old man.
I looked at him and said "Do you really think that Denver is this good?"
With Aarron Airflow as the leading scorer at the half? Lol

The officiating was absolutely crazy, and the refs will not get away with that crap for long.

Miles of Space

I see CJ Miles is still missing and not defending. Here we go again. Same old Jazz. Traded away the NBA's best three point shooter and kept Miles. :p

How did I know that you'd be here and start yapping about Boozer at the first sign of Jefferson struggling? Seriously, are you watching the game? Nobody is passing at all tonight, especially to Al. Not exactly his fault.

I agree though, it's shocking how someone who played and practiced in the Jazz system for 5+ seasons ran it better than a guy who has played 1/164th of a season in it.
Why hello H.E. Pennypacker. I apologize for calling a spade a spade when it's a spade. Obviously your feelings about spades are not to be set off.
