What's new

Gamethread: 10/17 - 7pm - REMATCH - Clippers @ YOUR UTAH JAZZ

If it's at the expense of another knee injury I'd rather just have him go fast though.... he can still contribute quite a bit doing that.

Stockton never, ever dunked in a game, but he still finished. Exum just needs to hit those high-off-the-backboard layups.

Why is Dante so good at those lobs? Is it his size or does he have superior feel for the game?

A lot of it is size - it allows him to see over smaller guards and combined with his speed, he's able to get the ball where it needs to go. Not sure he has the technical skills to be an incredible passer at the moment, but he definitely has the intelligence and will to do it.

Exum is going to be so damn good. Granted, this isn't against top caliber competition, but he's very difficult to guard. As soon as he grows up a bit more and has the skills to finish, he's going to demand double teams. As long as he develops a competent mid-range jumper and continues being consistent with his 3-ptrs, he's going to have the same skill set as Harden and Westbrook, but with a higher IQ. There's a lot of work to get to that point, but I can see the player he's going to become much more clearly now. Same feeling I had when Hayward had that ridiculous 35 point game against LA his first or second year in the league.

Totally. I felt this way after seeing Dante play last week. He is a much different player than he used to be and it's pretty obvious he's going to be special. His ability to cover the court on offense and defense is off the charts. Great Hayward comparison. That game against the Lakers and the last home game of his rookie season against the Thunder(I think, I should know because I was at that game) were when you KNEW Hayward was going to be special. I feel that way right now about Dante.

Exum doesn't need to blow by people. If he can get his defender on his hip, he can just use his length to make a play. He's starting to improve his feel and timing for making decisions and learning how to finish plays. Still has a ways to go though...

Jazz are a really high IQ team right now, with the vets and young talent like Hood, Lyles and Exum. These guys are making the right pass.

Dante isn't there yet but wow, he is going to be amazing. I always try to temper expectations but I look at guys like Exum, Hood, and Lyles and I'm flabbergasted by how good they can/will become. The scary thing is that those 3 can be serious building blocks and that's without mentioning Hayward, Favors, and Gobert.

I have this feeling stuck in my craw that Dennis Lindsay's vision of how to build this franchise has come to fruition and we are at the beginning of an era in which we will see some pretty amazing basketball from the Utah Jazz.

Im excited to see Exum get enough confidence to where he starts busting out the combo dribble moves.
