What's new

Gamethread: Houston Rockets @ Utah Jazz. 7pm MST.

A.) Hayward was hot after Harden jumped into him to draw the foul. I like to see that.

B.) What was the deal with Burke out there with Mack at the same time? Trey has a great 4th quarter, but also gave up the big 3 to let the Rockets tie the game back up. (Although he did challenge the shot.)

C.) I can't wait for Burks to come back. That small-ball lineup worker pretty good and I think it will be even more effective with Burks over Burke out there.

Snyder commented that with Mack's size, he can play at the 2. And yeah, I think Mack and Burks could be fun to watch.

I don't want to get into conspiracy theories but the Moon is hollow and the NBA hates the Utah Jazz.

ESPN shows a "highlight" of Josh smith switching or moving his pivot foot atleast 10 times while Lyles is guarding him and the ref is in the camera shot watching it all go down, but calling nothing.

We joke about conspiracies, but the refs are really bad, and it seems the slant is always in favor of the Other team.

The NBA is a business. The Jazz are the least searched on Google or Twitter. We have a small fan base. Of course the NBA doesn't want us to win. I think the refs suck on both sides. This year has been the worst I can remember.

No consistency at all... Aliza gets a light touch from hood around the waste that doesn't affect things at all... Foul. Hayward gets grabbed and tackled... Nothing. Favs gets the worst end of this by far.

I don't buy into conspiracy at all I just think it's a lack of respect and familiarity with our guys. I can't believe how much Hayward gets held. Barista was trying to foul last night and grabbed him open court when he had the ball and nothing was called. The refs are also sooooooo reactionary and making very late calls and our guys don't flop or exaggerate contact. It's the way basketball was meant to be played but probably costs us 4-5 points a night which is huge. We need an acting coach.

Auto correct hates arizas name.

That foul is 100% Hood's fault, not the officials. You can't touch a guy in the air. You just can't do it. Hood has a penchant for these super weak fouls. You touch a guy in the air it's going to affect his trajectory, especially in the open court where it's so obvious.

agreed. he needs to cut that **** out.

He shouldn't have reached out but it did not affect what Ariza was doing... I am just contrasting the level of contact required to get a foul. It seems even when Hood runs away from the foul he still gets called. He does lead the team in fouls that result in And 1s.

I just don't know how tackling holding wrapping up Hayward off ball is not a foul and that is... I know the Jazz has made the league aware of the issue but it isn't getting any better. Ariza committed two fouls on the last Hayward possession in regulation... I hope the officials report owns it... both were in plain sight of every ref.

I don't know what could happen from it. But you would think that the NBA would look into this. In this day and age, I am surprised the league hasn't been sued. I know dumb to say. But you pay that much money to see a game, and you have to watch WWE like events, where it looks scripted and fake. I know it's non-sense saying this. But just blows my mind that the NBA gets away with it. It's the only sport where conspiracy like this can happen every game.

I would think guys like Harden would get no benefit of the doubt because of the way he moves toward defenders arms in a non-natural basketball way and exaggerates contact. I would be embarrassed and pissed that he continues to make me look stupid for calling those fouls if I was a ref. Review the damn tape and see how dumb the stuff is and treat him like the boy that cried wolf.

It just sucks that guys who just play basketball like Favs and Hayward don't get the benefit of the doubt more.

Agreed. It's strange that the refs continue to reward floppers so much

Favors and Hayward truly get raped. It's unbelievable. The Jazz should get tough and create a tape and take to the NBA. Demand action. Increased expectations for the referee's. There are the occasional well officiated games, which means there is a lot of room for improvement.

Sued based on what? Everyone knows superstars get the calls. And it would be impossible to see if a ref threw a game. The NBA moves so fast, there are "legitimate" calls that could be made on essentially every play that could skew the outcome of a game. The FBI reviewed all of Tim Donaghy's games and couldn't say if he threw any. Unless the ref is stupid, there is no way to tell.

I kind of laughed at the sued comment... then I also laughed when you said sued based on what... this is Murica, no basis needed for law suits.

In all honesty... refereeing games is really hard. I subbed in for a friend in some high school games and there is a lot of guess work because it is so hard to see with that much motion and that many bodies moving.

Locke has hinted that the organization has been in contact with the league about this... said he couldn't get more specific than that. The thing that kills me is how much Hayward is held... they either have to pull his jersey or hold him for 2 or 3 seconds until it is called.

Favors strength works against him in getting calls. He doesn't get knocked completely off the shot or get put on the ground often which the refs play to that reaction.

Clutchfans has that the NBA 2 minute report came out and there were 6 blown calls in the last 2 minutes. All in favor of Houston.

Jazz are now -10 on calls in such games.
