Alright, normally not into this game but i think there is a legit trade that could actually happen that would meet our current roster needs pretty well. You ready...

Utah Trades:
Booker
Lyles
Tibor (basically salary filler)
Chris Johnson (salary filler, but might have to move to a third team or we could waive him due to roster limits)
Millsap (see above)

NO Trades:
Ryan Anderson (only one year left... trade value not high) fits a need now and gets an audition for next year if we want to resign
Jrue Holiday low value due to minutes restriction and health issues... only two years on his deal. The minute restriction is fine for us as we only need around 20 good minutes out of him a night.

We likely need to add salary for next year because we will be below the floor. We won't want to add much salary beyond next year as it may mess up our ability to resign our core guys.

We might have to add the OKC pick or 2nd rounders (we have a million) to grease the wheels a bit. I think NO needs to throw in the towel and we make a pretty good trade partner.

I really don't see New Orleans doing this. We are sending more volume than actual quality, and while they do seem to be running out of players, i don't think they really want any of those guys. And although Anderson would only be a one year rental, they could probably get much more value from a team trying to go far in the playoffs this year.

I like the vision, but I'd guess that NO would want to squeeze as many picks as possible out of whomever they let go. Your idea gives them salary relief next year, but do they need that as badly as picks?

This trade would make us better, but I'd be surprised if it looked like a good deal to DL. (But who the hell knows what he thinks is a good deal?)

It's not about this year... I am assuming they are throwing in the towel. This makes them much worse this year. They come away with a lotto pick in Lyles, a prospect? in Tibor (not sure I believe that myself), and additional cap space for next year to retool.

that said you may be right... I don't see them getting a prospect the level of Lyles for Anderson though... it's a half year rental. No idea what Jrue's value to another team would be... not many teams have opening for PGs and not many teams would want a guy who can only play 15-20 minutes a night.

NO would also be saving roughly $7M this year... doesn't matter to the fans but the owners would likely love to cut some salary.

I'd probably be willing to send the OKC pick and another 2nd rounder... I would balk at including our picks or the GSW pick in 2017.

Just think it would meet our current needs so well. We replace Neto and Booker's minutes with Holiday and Anderson... would also give us some insurance should Burke's shooting go downhill.

I suggested going after holiday in another thread.
I figure they might be about to blow it up and go after picks and young players on cheap contracts with potential.

I didn't think about Anderson though. I like it allot.

Anderson and holiday instead of neto and booker looks pretty damn good to me

I think the third big is a bigger concern than the starting pg at this point. I think Neto will go down to 10-12 minutes per night with Burks and Burke picking up some additional run. I'm worried about too many minutes for Favs and Gobert if Booker continues to suck. Add Ryno to the second unit with Burke, Burks, and Ingles with a sprinkling of Withey and I like our team so much more.

I do think the current GM of the hornets would have to be canned before the team sells Holiday on the cheap. He gave up too much to get him and is probably going to go down with the ship on that one.

This. We could even throw in a couple of seconds in multiple years, we have like 6 extra. Lyles is about as good as they could possibly get for the last half year of Anderson who isn't restricted.

We aren't winning the championship this year, so why do we give up a 20-year old who (despite the early struggles) has potential for a half-year rental? I don't like that part. If we throw in picks, too, then I hate it worse.

Lyles is only in there if we get Holiday too... he is under contract for another year.

I don't have a lot of optimism for Lyles. I get the concern though. If it was just Anderson I'd consider Booker and the OKC pick. We might keep Anderson beyond this year.

I know we aren't winning the championship this year, but I'm not sure we make the playoffs if Booker continues to suck. If we lost Favs or Rudy for 5 to 10 games we would be in all sorts of trouble.

Jrue Holliday followed the D-Will career trajectory but 3 years earlier than Williams did.

Jrue has been effective when he can get on the court. The NO medical staff is showing signs of being terrible. Steph struggled with injuries early in his career too.

Either way... a D will without attitude problems would look pretty good in our starting unit.

I'm not a fan of trading for a player with several years of declining production due to injury. Maybe he can go to Phoenix. Their fans think the medical staff are gods. Similar to how our fans think Quin Snyder can transform every draft pick into an all star. I am interested to see what several years under Quin could do for a guy like Scotty Hopsin, however.

BTW, I'm in favor of this trade for the sake of the sad fans who took the sucker over bet. You may be idiots, but you're generally good people and I'd like to see DL pull the trigger to bail your sorry asses out of that hole.

Going to win that bet.

I feel sorry that you don't really ever have anything good to say about the jazz.
But even though you are an idiot, you are a good person and one day might pull your head from your ***

I don't think he's the answer, but I wouldn't be totally against it if we didn't give up too much.
