George Hill Update

btw just to throw in this discussion ... i can't even begin to describe what a joke the term "Australian high school basketball" is .. he really had next to no real meaningful team basketball of note before going to the US. Which is why getting to the D league when George comes back and if Shelvin is going to be the backup i think would be great for him.. He needs to just play without thinking so damned much and play loose without worrying about the consequences of mistakes.

Also, when comparing rookie stats, one player had 3 years to develop in college compared to the other player who had zero. Not exactly apples to apples.
In my post I said to compare d will rookie year with exum rookie year or even use exum year 3 stats (this current year) to make it more fair.

Year 3? So you're counting a year he didn't play at all?

Funny thing is, I've actually read a few posts where fans thought Dante should have developed his shot while he was out last year, as if knees aren't important to shooting. Like I said.

Un. Real. Istic.

I think Philly might offer something decent for him. He might be a good fit with what they have going. If they aren't interested I think you are right, but there is always one or two puzzling trades so who knows.

Exum doesn't fit with Simmons. They need shooters around him.

Anyway, Exum's time table for development is definitely 3 or 4 years, and unlike fans, I think the FO knew that would likely be the case from the beginning. His injury puts him currently on year 2.

The year existed. This is exum third year in the league
But whatever. That's neither here nor there.
Pick a year from exum and compare it to a year from d-will.

Go back to their high school days if ya want.

And remember, I'm not the one who brought up d will as a comparison.

So you think a year in which a player doesn't play, should count in regards to player development? This is Exum's 2nd year of playing in the NBA.

Deron had 3 years to develop in college. Dante has better trainers/coaches at the NBA level, but will get less time on the floor than Deron got in college.

Yeah, anyway, if you want to be fair, it's year 3 or 4 before coming to any definite conclusions. I'd say 3, but there's a good chance Dante doesn't get a lot of floor time next year with Utah being in win now mode, and Utah has incentive not to rush his development anyway, in order to avoid having to match an iffy contract.

Don't know why I should have to say this again but let's just go with what you say. That year didn't count.

Pick a year from either player to compare. It's up to you. You can cherry pick any year of each player's life to compare.
I didn't come up with the comparison.

And just so ya know, I know you like to say the exum haters are giving up on him and have unrealistic expectations for him. I believe he should get playing time over mack and neto and always have. I have not suggested any trades. How is that for giving up on him?
My expectation for exum at this point is for him to be better than mack and neto. Unrealistic? Much more realistic than many expectations I have heard from many who believe exum will be a star.

That's funny, because I am fine with Mack playing over him at this point. And I have never expected Exum to be a star. I do, however, believe he is doing just fine, considering the circumstances. Once Hill comes back, I think Dante goes to the d-league, and if Hill and Burks come back, I don't see any option BUT to send him down.

In George Hill Update News, heard he's out for the Raptor's game.

Deron had 900/1000/1300 minutes his 3 year in college. Dante had 1800 in his first year in the NBA, and is on pace for ~1600 this year (could be lower as Jazz get healthy).

Hell of a sprain. How long has he been out now?

posted this in another thread but according to thetoedoctor.com, "Most toe sprains heal within five days, but severe toe sprains can last up to ten."

it has now been 23 days since Hill sprained his toe.

It is his big toe or what is called turf toe. That is a pretty broad description but generally it takes about a month on average to get back.

I just Googled it. It said grade 3 sprains are 3-8 weeks. Also they should be put in a cast for 1-2 weeks. Hill never had a cast. The Jazz training staff should Google how to fix people.

He was in a walking boot. That is a cast.

False. A cast is made of plaster. It immobilizes the bone. A boot is a brace that doesn't bend. I've had plenty of both.

You seriously just busted out the definition of a cast? Are you that bored? I think the point is, while Hill was in a boot, he was working on being healed. Go add vinegar to baking soda and make a volcano. (This should keep him busy for a while)
