What's new

George Hill's replacement - Westbrook, CP3, or Paul George?

CP3 is a crybaby an a bitch but I'd still like him if on my team. Rather take Westbrook or George tho an solidify the pg spot if it is George.

That's a championship team my friends.

nope

westbrook his only friend is spalding. he is not a team guy. every single player he played with regressed

it is how he is. he has no friends on the court.

paul george is hellbent on lakers

cp3 might go to sas

It's not about return value. It's about freeing up that money to apply to someone else. Yes, the Jazz will have to pay to do so. Just like the GS pick Utah got for Beidrins.

I'd ship out him, Favors, and Dante for next to nothing at this point if the Jazz can contract a superstar, sign Joe, Hayward. Tall order to fill but I think it's feasible salary wise, and under the LT. The [good] problem [to have] is filling in a depleted bench.

This is all wishful thinking though, even if the Jazz would have a clear shot at a title with any of the names mentioned. They'd be dumb to not come here.

Replacing Hill with Westbrook or Paul would put us on the level of the Warriors. Imagine a Westbrook/Durant battle in the WCF between the Jazz and Warriors. It would be glorious.

Westbrook would be great since it would also leave that d-bag Kanter on one of the worst teams in the league, while the best player on the team he left us for helps lead us to a championship.

Westbrook is too ball dominant. It would disrupt our flow way too much if he couldn't adapt. Same with CP3 to a lesser extent. I think CP3 could adapt to the fluid movement offense we run better and then dominate the ball as needed instead of blocking his own team mate to get the ball back.

WRONG

westbrick sucks, and is all about his statline.

every player regresses around him.

wanna know how i know he is all about his stats.
after 10 assist or rebounds, the time between his next assist or rebound doubles from every 3 minute ish to every 6-7 minute-ish

have you seen him play he shot 15 of 34 for 42 points seriously no thanks!!!!!!!!

I agree. I'd do it to Burks to resign Hill, Hayward and Ingles.

But if it is a Superstar the only two hesitant or no on is Gobert and Hayward.

As for the bench. You still have JJ, Bolomboy, Neto, Hood and Lyles. Plus several picks. This works especially of that superstar is a PG and no need for Hill.

Westbrook sat for 6 minutes in game 5 against the Rockets. His team was outscored 27 - 9 during his rest. It's clearly Westbrook who sucks.

Jazz will free up about 20 million with Withey, Diaw, Burks and Mack leaving. That helps. Plus the Jazz have multiple draft picks over the next 3 seasons. Including 5 1st rounders.

But if we're keeping Favs and Hill we'd still be in cap trouble. One of those two contracts + Burks has to go to keep us in good position financially.

Burks' contract, a.k.a. The Worst Contract in the League, is through 2019. They aren't trading our mutt for anything of value.

His contract isn't close to being the worst in the league. 10 mill per year is becoming a bargain for a bench guy. They'll be able to move him in a trade where we are just dumping salary to get a pick back.

If you put 3 shooter's around Westbrook and gobert they would be unstopable. Anyone who can't see that is a moron. Okc was the worst 3 point shooting team in the league. Their best wing defender can't even make free throws. Stephen Adams is the only other player even worth a damn on that team and it's not like he's a borderline All star. OKC sans Westbrook is maybe a 15 win team.

Westbrook is the cornerstone of the Thunder and their future. I don't see them shipping him out. He's likely to get a designated player contract and finish his career in OKC.

Chris Paul is 31 and is in line for a max contract as well. My expectation is that the Clippers will offer him whatever max contract they can and let Blake Griffin walk. The Jazz could potentially clear out a bunch of cap space, but they'd have to renounce pretty much everyone who is a free agent but Hayward to get it done. That's a lot of risk on the HOPE that Paul picks you over the Clippers max extension.

I agree Paul is headed to SAS.

I don't want hill for more then 15 to 17 mil. If it goes above that I look at dwill, collison, holiday, mills, lawson or teodisic.

Actually if paul goes to the Spurs mills would be an interesting signing for the jazz.

Ingles is a high priority but I wouldn't want to sign him for more then 10 to 12 mil. (Which is a huge pay increase for him)

Hayward will get the max and deserves it.

I think the trade fodder is Burks and I still feel he has value around the league especially with teams looking move out of a rebuild like the 6ers, magic and NY (hornecek might value him and his playing style fits the triangle)

If diaw is back it will be, I hope, as a vet min.

Mack is gone

Withey is gone

Favors is a very interesting one as he has 1 year left. Jazz can still extend him at a decent price but the big question mark is his health. Nothing he has can't be recuperated from.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lyles put into a package

Players I like from other teams that would be interesting

- luc mbah a moute - one less defender against Gordon

- Avery Bradley - depending on who Boston drafts I wonder what his price would be

- Sam Dekker - I would live to have Dekker and not Lyles coming off the bench

- Doug McDermott - I like guys with high iq who can also shoot.

- richaun Holmes - would be a great back up to Rudy

- Dario saric - is quickly going to be the odd my out in Philly.

- Evan Fournier - just because he is Rudy's best friend

- Mario hezonja - he under performed

It's because the chemistry of that team is f'd up, and it's because of Westbrook. They are used to playing with him, with a guy who takes all the shots, hogs the ball and they just get used to standing around. The guy is a cancer.

You are deceived by Westbrook's gaudy stats.

15 of 34 is a pretty good shooting percentage. And he scored 47 points.

Go big by talking to everyone. I've mentioned this before but we need our name floated out there with top FAs, even if we don't expect to ever land them. Can't decide to stand against the wall and watch everyone dance because we think none of the girls will say yes. Get out in the dance floor and expect to dance. If it doesn't work out, don't worry, that spot against the wall will still be there for you.

Realistically, I'd like to keep the team in tact (Hill, Hayward and Ingles). We missed a massive amount of time to injury. I'd upgrade a few things:

PF: Favors a huge question mark but I wouldn't deal him unless we get real value for it (we won't) so he can stay put and we'll roll the dice on his final year. Lyles can be packaged. Keep Bolomboy. If we need toughness, you could always explore Burks for Trevor Booker. In reality, is honestly go after Bosh. He's a year out from 19/7 and he can spread the floor. At worst he's a nice backup off the bench (or doesn't play). At best he starts and regains his form. He's still young. His health issues of being hypercoaguable doesn't affect his athleticism or how he can play -- it would just affect if he can play. If cost wasn't an issue, Ibaka would be nice.

C: let Withey go. Bring Bogut in. /discussion.

PG: let Mack go. Keep Neto. Patty Mills is interesting. Deron as insurance if Hill goes.

Bottom line: re-sign Hayward, Hill and Ingles. Waive Diaw. Do whatever with Burke and Lyles. Sign Bosh and Bogut.

You have poor basketball evaluation IQ. I'm sure you're a cool guy though.

I said essentially the same thing a while back when Hill was playing well, and got mocked and scorned for presenting the idea that Hill be signed for a lowly $20Mil per. Crazy how a little time changes things.

From what I gather, "designated player" is an EXTENSION only available to rookie scale extensions. There is no 5 year deal available to Westbrook. The only thing OKC can offer him at this point is 7.5% raises vs. 4.5%. That's a difference of (projected cap of $102mm) about $900,000 the first year.

However, Westbrook is in his 9th season and will be eligible for a pay raise from 30% of the cap to 35% next summer. I bet he takes a 2 year deal with an opt out agreement and goes for the 35% next summer. Sacrificing $900,000 with that capability isn't really that much for a guy making almost $32,000,000 a year. His agent may say differently, but so will the chance at a ring. In the end, Westbrook needs and will leave OKC IMO.
