What's new

George Karl

Why would Karl want a job with us when there are so many more glamorous and attractive jobs open?

Folks, we're a good 2-3 seasons away from playoff contention. And if you leave the Utah Bubble, not many people think our FO is very competent. I know everyone here has this hope or belief that we're like the Spurs or something... But if you were to talk to anyone outside of Utah, they'd laugh at what we've done over the past 3 years.
Yes, they would laugh because it was painfully obvious to everyone BUT Greg and KOC that they were putting band-aids on a gaping wound. But Lindsey came right in and told both those emperors that they had no clothes. I think KOC has been fairly good at bringing in FA's and making trades. He missed the mark a bit on the trio he brought in this season in Mo, Randy and Marvin. But I also think the blame has to be put on Ty for misusing those guys. He overplayed Randy, didn't call any plays for Marvin and failed to rein in Mo. I think many coaches would be attracted to the situation we have: good, young players with $20M in cap space now and another $8M in Marvin's expiring. KOC (and Lindsey) have been targeting 2014 for 2 years. They fully expect teams to dump salaries. Let's see what happens at the deadline. I have tremendous faith the Jazz will pick up either great draft picks or a couple of pretty good starters/6th men in exchange for giving teams tax relief.

Karl went with teams finishing top 1 or 2 sixteen times in 25 years, yet he won one conference final. You all want god but He doesn't coach.

Individualistic fallacy.

I thinka greater analysis should be done. Look at his teams and who they played against.

In Seattle, the Jazz, Rockets, Blazers, and lakers got going just as his team was in decline. His best player was Payton and an alcoholic fat ***. Had vin baker stayed sober.... Or had kemp resigned (and not gained 100 lbs during the lockout)... But he didnt. Difficult to compete with teams stacked with talent like the blazers. Or with teams loaded with HOFers like shaq, Kobe, Stockton, Malone, dream, Barkley, clide, etc. lakers had shaq. George Karl had Jim McIlvaine.

In milawakee, he had a very young ray Allen, big dog chucker, and alien. Amazing that they ever did anything with 3 guys fighting over the ball. In Denver, simple: melo, Kmart, JR smith, and birdman. Lol. This year was a legit chance to get to the WCF. What happened? Their best player had a fluke injury and tore his ACL. Karl's fault? i think not. healthy Denver team could have done some serious damage in the playoffs.

Karl is one of the best coaches in the league. Give him a team like the Nets, grizz, or clippers and he will go deep into the playoffs. Guaranteed.

No.

It's called, "usually your damn brain."

Sloan? 2 finals.

Byron Scott? 2 finals. So using your logic, Sloan=Scott

Erik spolstra? 3 finals. Soooo spol > Sloan

Right?

Hence, why we need to look deeper.

Brooklyn, Memphis, and LA all have open spots. Sorry. But Utah is going to be ugly stepsister to those franchises.

Also, the jazz have serious question marks. We think the c4 is awesome. But we don't know for sure. We think thrnFO has a plan. many of these coaches aren't so sure. With so many question marks surrounding our team and management (are they really committed? Or merely want to churn a profit? Will the FO dictate to the coach? Think karl would put up with the FO telling him to feature big al and millsap over kanter and favors? doubt it) good coaches are going to go elsewhere.

And the other franchises don't have question marks? Is Chris Paul going to re-sign? If he does how much control does he get? Memphis has been a doormat for years and years and now they are going to be a power year after year?

Many coaches aren't sure the young guys for the Jaz aren't going to be pretty good? Based on what? Where did you get that? Examples?

How do you know the FO told Corbin to play Al over Kanter & Favors?

How much stuff are you going to pull directly from your ***?

Cool. Cap space. So who we gonna sign?

Just answer me this: who in this fa class is an improvement over what we have? Don't mention cp3, cuz he aint coming.

Better PGs than we have that are FA:
Jeff Teague
Devin Harris
Nate Robinson
Shaun Livingston
Darren Collison
Jose Calderon
Jarrett Jack
D.J. Augustin
Chris Paul (Agree he is not coming to Utah City)
Brandon Jennings
Kevin Martin

Cap space + picks + expiring deals

Jazz have options.

Yes....

Great options....

What a tremendous FA class...

Sign Brandon Jennings and Shaun Livingston. Spurs and Heat will be shaking in their boots....

So why even bother then huh? In your eyes we're gonna suck one way or another so lets just give up?

No. Just come back to the reality that the Jazz are a good 2-3 years from being good again. Yes. There is cap room. But no free agents that are improvements over our own. Teague or Jennings? Barf. Just reup mo.

We are going to need to build through the draft (doing everything to have a top pick next year) and hope that the c4 really develops this year. oh, and we need a real coach. STILL. Corbin clearly isn't the answer.

But I'd be remiss to not say that SOME people might not be as smart or as right as they think they are on this site as well as to close/emotional to the situation and can't look at the Jazz objectively. As far as their opinions of Corbin go.

These are the kind of thoughtless comments that drive me nuts. The shortcomings of Corbin have been analyzed with numerous details and examples over and over on this site. How can you say people are being emotional when you have substance and statistics to support the fact that he sucks big time?

Spoelstra is a very good coach, though. And I believe Sloan to be generally overrated (which isn't to say that he wasn't very good).

I think the idea that everyone but Corbin is a savior is an infantile way to look at things. And I am anything but a supporter of Corbin. Besides, he's not going anywhere this offseason, so everyone needs to stop torturing themselves.
