What's new

Get off our plane! Now!

Bwahahaha!!!! Speaking of bad press! There will be meetings, a ****load of emails and an inquisition rivalling the one they had in Spain to find who leaked this.

It's nice to see work get a bit of press tho... I'm pretty sure its somebody from the nurse's union that's leaked this, there are some details missing that I know about and I wasn't even there.

Haha sounds like the internet version of a 24 episode. Good job on the drama creating angle.

Looks like they're gonna sue (the right move)... didn't know the Doctor also lost 2 front teeth because of it.

Here's his lawyer outlining all the details.

- The Law = reasonable care is needed

- I've received calls from United customers and employees "They have always bullied us".

- I've received hundreds of 'tales of woes'. "All we wanted was respect, and dignity and common decency"

- Monday there's a hearing at 10am in Chicago

- Dr. Dao is the guy to stand up for passengers going forward

- United CEO 'hesitated' when asked 'Did Dr. Dao do anything wrong?'

- Can't airlines keep some seats vacated for emergencies?

Can you say class action?

Hmm.. I dunno, I would doubt it unless they also have video of the other passengers being dragged out.

However if there is a big payout from this case I would imagine a significant change in the offers are made for people to voluntarily get off the plane. Either that or keep 3-4 spare seats free in case there is a fully booked flight.

I used to work at IMAX cinema when I was putting myself through Uni, and doesn't matter how full the cinema is they will always have about 10 seats left vacant (always at the same location), in case of emergencies. I don't see why airlines can't have that as a precaution against these types of situations.

pfft who needs video? allegations and slurs will be more than enough, run a long media campaign leaking various complaints to the press and get an out of court settlement, the plaintiffs will get a risible amount the lawyers will make out like bandits.

American airlines have gotten way more expensive. I remember with Southwest use to be super cheap just going from Texas to Florida.
Southwest used to be the ****. I remember being able to fly from slc to Vegas for like 50 or 60 bucks. And no bag fees.

Damn time to start flying Delta and give up my seat.

So now people will just refuse to leave, get paid $$$, and the rest of us make up for it with increased ticket prices.

Brilliant solution.

So we had this discussion yesterday - suppose you accept an offer, then the airlines ups the offer because they don't get enough takers - are you "entitled" to the larger amount?

Everyone (there were maybe 5 of us) said NO - that's just the risk you take.

One of my friends who used to travel A LOT for work and racked up so many vouchers she was put on a "no voucher" list said that it is typical that once someone takes an offer, others quickly follow suit because they're afraid they'll get shut-out entirely if they wait for the airline to up the ante.

Yeah I don't think you're entitled to the larger amount. You should just get the offer that you accepted.
