Glenn Robinson at #23?

I think this guy has the potential to be a Jeff Green-like player. A good finisher and an above average defender. Plus, he played alongside Burke. I remember some alley-oops of this duo. Not a good shooter and a little bit undersized though...

Your thoughts?

I think he would be a good value for #35 but not at #23 vs the other talent expected to be available this year.

Exactly what I was going to say. In hindsight, Robinson should have declared last year, as he played better last season.

Huge Michigan fan and I don't want to draft him.

Athleticism isn't anything great. Outside shot isn't great.
He seems to be average or below average at everything.
I was expecting to see some improvements this year, but he was exactly the same player.

I wouldn't draft him at all. Needs to be a consistent outside shooter to become a role player in this league.

he would be the best athlete we've had in a while. his outside shooting is more than adequate. his problem is that he is soft. he barks like a poodle. but i still like him at 23.

LOL.. tell that to the Aaron Gordon fan club.

BTW - Glen Robinson III plays well when there is a PG feeding him the ball on the move - he didn't have that last year. Don't be surprised if he plays well above his draft position if he is drafted by a team with a pass-first PG.

I like GRIII. Not sure I like him at #23. But I like him with #35.

For some reason he seems like the kind of guy the spurs would take and turn into a valuable starter somehow.

I would bet burks is faster quicker and a better jumper

here is the combine number. grob is bigger and much more explosive leaper. burks have edge on agility, but he was almost 20lb lighter.

height & weight
grob - 6ft 5 1/2 211lb
burks - 6ft 5 193lb

both have same 5.1 body fat. same wingspan. so basically Grob has naturally bigger frame than burks.

standing vert
grob - 36.5
burks - 29

max vert
grob - 41
burks 36

3/4 sprint
grob - 3.15
burks - 3.17

agility drill
grob - 11.22
burks - 10.96

standing vert difference is glaring.
grob certainly showed explosiveness here and there at michigan. his problem is he doesn't have a handle. so with the basketball in his hands, he just doesn't seem comfortable driving it to hoop. burks is so great with the basketball. all of his explosive plays are either on the fastbreak or allyoop. rarely with the ball. that's why even with his athleticism he is considered late 1st rounder.

burks easily looks faster on tape because he knows what to do with the basketball. but i think grob can improve. i like his pedigree and upside.

i think it's a high risk high reward pick.

i don't expect grob to be a lead dog type. he isn't.

but he brings athleticism and he is familiar with trey. that's always plus.

we need more of these. look at how effortlessly he leaps with 2 feet. vince carter like.

closest body type would be Demar Derozan. they are actually clone. same height and weight. grob has 1 more inch on wingspan. similar body fat. Grobiii actually put up much better overall combine numbers. derozan had 38.5 vert and much worse sprint and agility drills. derozan too only had 29 inch standing vert like burks. and derozan was even worse at shooting mid range or 3pter than grob.

obviously derozan has gotten better and better. if this kid can work hard and play D, i can see him panning out like derozan. but definitely the bust potential is there. he did produce, but he was content to be 3rd option. he just didn't have that aggression.

again high risk high reward. if he can grow with trey and just be a good 3rd option in the future than we just might have found ourselves a steal of the draft. i'll take my chance and roll the dice.

many mock had him at early 2nd, but he did very well at the combine so his stock is moving up. i'm not even gonna be surprised if someone takes a chance in top 20. but also i won't be surprised if he falls to #35. if we passed on him on #23 then we better not pass on him at #35.
