Please Fabtrey stop with that Michigan agenda. Two of his teammates did go to the NBA and one key player got hurt. He had the chance to showcase himself but he did not improve at all. He could have been "the man" but he was not. Stauskas took over. If u wanna give me another Michigan Alum I'd take him but @23 GR3 is a no-no. You can take a look in the 2nd round but not in the 1st!
he isn't the man. he never will be.
he isn't a killer
he doesn't have a great handle
he doesn't know how to lead a team
he disappears time to time
so what is he?
he is a fastbreak player
he is a project
he is a great athlete
he has a prototypical size
he is a decent shooter
he has a pedigree
look at the best games he had. it happened in the playoffs. he has a talent to take off. his shooting % wasn't bad. he made his shot in many key moments. you bring him in as a complimentary player. he is an unselfish team player. if he improves he can be danny green. if he improves he can be kawhi leonard. if he takes off he can be derozan like.
what happens if he busts? well, then he is a bust. he is a classic high risk/high reward guy. but you gotta project his game. because he didn't know how to attack the rim, he did develop a decent midrange game. he can't play with the back to the basket. well, nobody can in today's nba. took bron 8 years to figure that out a little. but grob is a pretty good finisher around the rim. and he can explode with both feet. he can become our versatile wing who can guard 2 and 3. he opens up his shoulder alot which is not a great sign, but any problems he had will be fixed. remember beilein didn't know crap about defense. just look at trey and timmy. they just don't know how to play defense yet.
and you are not alone. i was so disappointed in grob. i call him a lil pup for a reason. but every once in a while, he make me go 'did you see that?'. In my opinion, college production is just 1 equation. there is no guaranteeing stauskas' game will translate in the nba. stauskas could be nothing more than korver. can he put the ball on the floor and attack? can he shoot when taller and longer defender guard him? i don't know. but teams will take stauskas because of what he did in college. i'm more interested what these guys will do in nba. i've said million times timmy will take off in nba. and looks like he will be.
and almost always an athletic wing like grob has his place in a team especially if he can improve his shooting. look at gerald green. didn't know how to play basketball, but finally figured it out and turned into a decent pro. athleticism doesn't go away. it's the easiest thing to scout.
i'll take my chance on him. same goes to lavine.
