What's new

GM #9: 11/12/2014 - Utah Jazz(3-5) @ Atlanta Hawks(3-3) [5.30 PM MDT, 7.30 PM ET and 1.30 AM CET]

but most of our guys would be better off driving and trying to make a play at the rim.

What if the defense is sagging off and clogging the middle?
Don't we need to shoot those open jumpers to keep the defense honest?

I feel like both Favors and Kanter should be physical players who get deep position, pump fake, draw fouls and score inside. I'd like to see our bigs play inside more and shoot just a few jumpers to keep defenses honest. Neither Horford or Millsap would have been able to stop our guys consistently. Kanter didn't get to the line at all tonight. Favors had 4 attempts. Either of them could have had 8 attempts or more if they wanted to.

has this ever been in question here?!?! the true answer to your question is both, its complex, because im hedged all sorts of ways.

jeez, yall certainly have plenty of bad things to say about me... but dont really seem to know my deal... whatsoever..

Im a bettor first and fan 2nd, but its not close. my allegiance is to winning. I view these more as opportunities than games or entertainment, tbh, It wouldnt hold my attention otherwise...

I'd have never stopped being a Knicks fan if that wasnt the case, Im not emotionally attatched to any of these teams, that leaves room for error. i bet for and against all of them, I felt it was best for my learning curve to switch squads and dissect another fanbases psychology.

So you'd rather be right. That's what I thought.

Still waiting on that timeline btw.

Then you should be able to turn 20-foot pull-up jumpers early in the shot clock into spot-up 3s.

Not if we can't hit those shots. An open 15 - 18 foot shot is a good look for some players and not a good look for others.

When Carmello Anthony was at Denver, George Karl used to tell him to get two inside scoring opportunities for every jumper. I feel like that logic should apply to both Kanter and Favors. Who on the Hawks is going to stop them?

Millsap is going to give up 2 fouls at least for every block he gets. He's really giving up 3 or 4 inches on either Favors or Kanter.

So did Dennis murder Burke? Or?

So again I ask

That's what I thought..... but that seems to be a staple of this offense and all of our wings/perimeter guys do it..... So wouldn't that have to be getting encouraged by snyder to a certain extent?

Well, it's easier to shoot the pull-up(not make them). Trey and Alec can sometimes get a little bit trigger happy and Hay forced it tonight but I don't feel we are taking that many. I haven't looked at any stats or shot charts, though. I also missed the last 2-3 games.

I feel like Hayward has been taking as many, if not more, midrange/long twos as trey or Alec.
Hayward was hitting them though so they were not looked at as "bad shots"

Kobe has always taken alot of long twos during his career and he has had decent success

Kobe is a top-10 player of all time. None of our guys are. Don't compare them to him.

An open 20-foot shot early in the shot clock is a green-light attempt for guys like Steph Curry, Dirk Nowitzki, Kyle Korver, LMA and maybe Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard and a handfull of other top-tier players who make 45% - 50% of those looks.

For most guys, it's not the look you want. It doesn't make the defense work either.

???? Starting to think this guy has conversations with himself. Y'all think ennie is sick....this dude is out there.

ROFL, full of **** people with multiple personality disorders, low iq morons, and dementia patients talk to themselves. I always felt I was better than people like that, and was always quick to point out to unaware people doing such a thing, that its a symptom.

Ive been running these large scale simulations for years and its turned me a bit more crazy, the one question i do find myself reflecting on of late is 'if there were 1000 versions of you(me), how many of them would make choice a, choice b or choice c", somehow that helps me come up with some hard to call process of elimination type ****

What a deflating loss, but there were many positives. Love Snyder. I can't stress enough how great of a hire he was. Just need our young guys to grow up.... We've got the pieces. Something special is brewing. I know it. I just know it. ****!!!!!

That's because he is Kobe. Damn Fish, you are forcing me to praise Kobe.

As for Hay, I thought he found a balance and got into rhythm early.

The Jazz shot 1/12 from the perimeter in the 4th quarter and finished the quarter with just 9 pts. They shot 3/6 in the paint.

Having a healthy Hood will help a lot. We need to get more from the Bench than what we are getting. Right now Booker is a player, but we aren't getting much from anyone else. When the bench puts together a game we win. I',m not extremely worried about this because our bench is Booker plus rookies and second year players. That will come together as they get more experience. I'm hoping Hood eventually fills the role that Burks just vacated.

nope but let me know how Schroder does the next time he gets 15 FGA's.

I'd lay you 3:1 odds he draws at the very least 8ft's in that game.

right now his FT to FG rate is off the charts. hes shooting a FT every 4 minutes of Playing time, Alec Burks shoots one ever 8 minutes

Burkes defense vs the P'n'R was as bad as i expected, he looked helpless and a step slow when Teague was going ballistic early on... no? Dennis is playing very well, he looks quick and balanced IMO, many people around here thought due to his lack of weight that he'd need more than 1 year to transition into america, that was obviously overstated.

Its the beginning of the season, time will tell, Schroder is clearly trending upwards . That was one of the worst games you will EVER see Al Horford play, and they still got the W.

Yep Hood's absence changes up the rotations a bit, and gives us (hopefully) a scoring punch off the bench or at least a floor spacer. I keep forgetting he's been out. I think he can be an impact player for sure. Obviously we'll see some clunkers from him but that's to be expected from a rookie.
