If Hayward leaves there will be a lot of second guessing and hindsight prognostications. Should Lindsey have traded Hayward before he expired? Should he have rented GHill for one season? Should he have spent money on FAgents in 2015? Then there are the draft picks...Lyles, Burks, and Exum have all disappointments to some degree.
Personally, I like what he has done with the roster, the arena, the coaching staff, his approach to the media, his attention to detail and his leadership style. If I was his boss, I would send him back to work the day after Hayward announced his decision...no matter what Hayward decides.

Love DL, but I agree with this. Accumulating assets and then just sitting on them until they have no value is a poor way to manage an NBA team. I loved the move to get Mitchell at the expense of trading Lyles. If the Jazz need to make a similar move with either Hood or Exum. . . then so be it. If they failed to make bold moves that cost them Hill and Hayward it's a huge black eye for the organization. As would I. I can do that and still view the hit this off season as a loss.
Sure hindsight and all that but at the end of the day he would have failed to deliver in his biggest moment.
It takes two to make a trade, everyone. Let's not forget that.
Lindsay has made plenty of bold moves during his time here, and personally I think he did A LOT to convince a talent like Hayward to stay. We won a playoff series with a young team and have plenty of potential to grow. We lost to one of the best teams in NBA history. If Hayward still leaves after that... yeah it absolutely sucks. But I'm not sure that's an indictment of Dennis Lindsay.
I am still support what DL is doing. But if Hayward leaves and we didnt spend the cap space we have had sitting all year I will look at that as an huge fail on his behalf. We could have made the roster stronger last year with that cap space but he chose to hang out to it for some reason. I am hoping that reason is to make a move right now to help convince Hayward to stay and improve our team going forward. But if he strikes out or simply just doesnt pull the trigger that cheapness could be a reason Hayward leaves. Players dont like their team being cheap.
On the flip side if he does pull of a deal in the next day or two and keeps Hayward hats off sir, well played.
Huh, never saw you post anything like this before. So, if Hayward leaves, what good has Lindsey done?
There is Gobert, but he did pass on Gobert three times so I'm not sure I'll chalk that up to brilliance. There was a lot of luck with Gobert, especially considering how terrible his other draft choices have been.
Overall, I agree. Getting Hill, JJ and Diaw was an indication that they wanted to win. With that said, they're sitting on assets and cap space right now. Not sure there was a move out there worth blowing the team up. . . but I really would like to see a major acquisition this offseason. Too many teams are aggressively getting better for the Jazz to simply sit still and hope it works out well. What is the move you would have liked to have seen? I felt like signing Diaw and Joe Johnson were clear signals that the Jazz weren't just being cheap.

We gotta use this cap space. We can't let it expire with Hayward entering FA. I expect a trade in the next 24 hours. Hopefully something aggressive where we land a big name. So Hayward enters FA with that trade on his mind.
I sure hope we do. My expectations for a trade keep dropping though. But I didnt expect the CP3 trade so who knows what could happen. All reports have been how aggressive DL has been. I would be very disappointed if we do nothing. I would be upset with the FO if we do nothing and we lose Hayward.
I would be happy with just about any all-star level player or really any player just a step below all-star.
I got a bad feeling that everything is staying put. Sign Hayward, Ingles and Hill and hope to become a contender.
