Go get GOMES

Me too. But Utah doesn't need both Gomes and Millsap.

If Millsap and #9 for Harris (or Yi and Humphries) and #3 was offered, Utah should've taken that. Along comes Gomes, a player available who I think would do about as well as Millsap does in the Jazz system, even though Gomes' production in Minny is below what Millsap's is in Utah. Maybe KOC is hoping for more sure things, and getting rid of Harris might've been tough. He's a great scorer but not a great shooter. And Yi is weak and injury prone and not a great scorer, but he logged a block or so a game, can shoot the 3, and had the best on-court/off-court +/- among the Nets' starters. Oh--and he's an expiring.

Here's a good lineup:
DW/Price/Gaines
Matthews/CJ
CJ/Kirilenko/Jeffers
(Boozer)/Yi/Gomes/Humphries
Cousins/Fesenko/Koufos

If NJ was offering a starting PF (Yi), a backup 3/4 (Hump) and #3 (Cousins) for Millsap, a trade exception, and #9, you do that deal.

gomes may be the the same size as millsap but they are very different players, gomes is much more of a shooter. Gomes is like a 3 trapped inside a 4's body.

Gomes is a small-forward, he won't compete with Millsap. Please son, use your eyes in participating on this forum from this point forward, not your fingers.

Every player on the Twolves production would be better if they played for the Jazz. D-Will and a sharing system well do that for you. But I agree I would do that trade ISG. Of course there is no way NJ would. There is no way that trade is a good one for the Nets.

Gomes is a guy that without Milsap would be nice to have. But we don't need another vastly undersized PF. Gomes plays some SF for the Wolves but like AK he is a PF and plays better there. He is not that good of a SF.

Is he better than CJ at SF? I'd say so; I'd rather have Gomes than Boozer at PF, to be honest. He at least isn't afraid to mix it up in the paint...

Actually, Jesus, Gomes played 1/3 of his PT at power forward last season (and did a bit better at the 4, too). And given that he is approximately the same height at Millsap, and about 10 pounds lighter, he's still a cheaper alternative at the 4.

My understanding from the Simmons report is that there were serious discussions about it. NJ would've been happy to unload Harris or Yi/Hump + Cousins for a solid borderline starter PF and a #9 pick in order to make more room for Lebron and/or another star. Maybe they still will.

+1.
