Go GET Teague

I think they'll "Kanter" him and just take the best deal on the table.

So we can trade them pleiss and a pick for him! I'm in 100%.

If your theory held any water then why the hell didn't he bring in a guy to raise everyone's value last summer? Because it's all about the $.

great ****ing question, amigo. I've been as loud as anybody about that fiasco.

Chris has been fine. Tobias wouldn't help our defense at the 4. An argument could be made for Demarre, but are we really going to max a player that we can't even start? Just for insurance at our strongest positions?

It isn't just for insurance at all... It's a trade asset too. Chris has been meh. I wasn't even advocating the big $ guys but if one would take our money it doesn't hurt us. There no reasonable scenario you could tell me that says we'd be worse off having signed one of those guys other than Matthews whose injury would scare me off.

The amount of injuries we've dealt with is highly unusual this season-- no other NBA team has had to deal with this many injuries across the squad.

Using this season as a precedent for injury insurance isn't wise IMO because rarely will a roster be this deficient. Not only that-- but Alec's injury hasn't even been that detrimental to wing production. Not at all. Our wings have been fine. It's been Derrick's, and Rudy's injuries that have butt-****ed us-- and most of the anti-CBs weren't clamouring for players that backed up their positions. So there's something to consider.

Your anti-cake baking largely hinged on playing Alec most of his minutes at the 1, which some were adamantly against (myself included-- I wanted him to play 20 at the 2 and 10 at the 1). I still don't see us being a contending team with him there.

Accordingly, you would have a logjam at the wing, which was a position of strength for us. Hood and Hayward are very deserving of starters minutes, and even Alec's absence hasn't made our wings ineffective. The problem on offense continues to be consistent PG play. The problem on defense was only injuries.

Advocating for cake-baking is an acknowledgement of this strength. There isn't a need to target a FA to a big contract because we didn't need one, and we don't need to make a ring-run this particular year. If we just sit tight and focus on meaningful growth for one more year, it'll maximize our chances next year, and for the years to come.

And it shows. Trey Lyles has benefitted from cake-baking. Trey Burke has acclaimed some trade value. Favors has shown improvements on offense, particularly at the 4. Hood and Hayward basically performed as expected, while Alec has more or less become the the third fiddle in the wing rotation.

We have a better idea of our squad than we did several months ago, and it makes our future that much brighter because of it.

All of us want this team to make the playoffs-- but I'm willing to accept the 8th seed this year if we get the 3rd seed next year. That's what it's all about.

Do you work for the Millers, or are you copy-pasting their sales pitch? The only thing "We" have a better idea of is exactly how go nowhere this squad will be. That lowers trade/asset value across the league.

Keep putting lipstick on the pig, dal.

**** off.

Let's not be silly, he wouldn't be on the block if he wasn't having a down season, he will just 28 at the end of the season though. And second the whole point is that he is a competent vet who can be the bridge to Exum if Exum pans out or be kept and provide quality PG play for a reasonable cost.

So you start with "let's not be silly" and you follow that by recapitulating my main points.

Not that is silly

This thread has been agonizing to read. What the hell is wrong with all u idiots. Teague isn't that good. What fantasy land do u all belong to??? Sounds like a great place.

I can't ****ing wait to repost this thread in a year or two!!!

Jeff Teague used to be so damn athletic at Wake Forest, he'd posterize defenders regularly.. It's fair to wonder about him slowing down. He's certainly not the same player that used to do this..

One of my personal favorite players in the NBA too. Wake Forest is my team in the ACC, I loved those teams before Skip Prosser passed away.

He was never a freak, maxed out at 36" at the combine. Still at least 34" (see 2:15)

solid post

Bill Simmons posted two hypothetical trades and Twitter blasted him lol. One was Hayward/Burke for Teague/Korver.

During the course of it all @tjonessltrib tweeted that he has heard that "there has been no contact on either side".

Shows over folks. Go home.

Yeah, because the Jazz FO always tells the absolute truth to Tony Jones.

That was the better trade.
In the other one the jazz trade hayward and only get teague back

If the Jazz even remotely consider trading Hayward, they're stupid.
If the Jazz think Teague would solve any problem, they're morons.

For this trade I agree. But you consider trading everyone. just depends on what you'd get back.

I saw earlier in the thread that the value for teague is probably fairly low, and I agree. It's going to be something like the kanter trade if it happens. Seems like they just want to get rid of him to open up space. It's not gonna take a lot to get him.

Also, I don't think they are trading for Burks as he is injured right now. They need someone to play now. They are jostling for playoff position and need production.

In that case, Burke + pick. :D
