That's great in theory, but if the players goal is to get up a shot in 7 seconds or less, they usually will regardless be it a good or bad shot, which causes a lot of iso and one on one play.

Saying we will be like the hawks isn't exactly a ringing endorsement seeing as they play in a bad eastern conference. It's not like they had a great record.

The Hawks made some noise in the playoffs when they weren't expected to even make the playoffs in the first place.



Also their best player was Paul Millsap.

One interesting nugget about that was that both Exum and Burke were saying that Snyder lets whoever of them got the rebound to move the ball up the floor. I'm going to assume that they'll try to have Burks and Hayward initiate that in the offense at times too. Hayward in particulars might thrive in such a role. Not necessarily as a true point forward, but capable of running things up the court in specific instances.

The beauty of that Hawks offense was all 5 of the players can shoot the 3 ball.



With Burke and Exum initiating the offense/bringing the ball up, I'd rather have 3 more shooters on the floor (Kanter, Hood, Novak, etc) - rather than Hayward who has proven time and again that he isn't a consistent spot up shooter.

I think the goal is to be like San Antonio: ball movement, good outside shooting and just plain old-fashioned basketball intelligence.

It took 3 years for Corbin to change, ummm, remind me what he changed?
Oh yeah, I remember when his BIG announcement was forcing players baseline on defense instead of into the middle.

I agree have a system that uses our players strengths. They are good at not thinking or running plays or rotating on defense. Forget trying to have them be professional, remember stuff or run a play. Let them not think and do whatever naturally happens. This is a recipe for 115 pts a game an a D that holds opponents to 90.

I hate to put a damper on all the enthusiasm so soon... but it's too soon.

We haven't seen a single possession from these guys under Snyder yet.

I don't know if Snyder is going to be a good coach, but I like how he's handling things so far. These kids are learning, but still having fun and they're supposedly still focusing on defense first (we'll see if that sticks.)

I still think that the Jazz should hire Stockton and Malone as full-time team ambassadors and have them work with the young guys on the nuances of the pick and roll. The fact that a P&R heavy team has the best two to ever run it available to help is invaluable. I hope Lindsey and Snyder reach out to them this summer.

Just because you're thinking less does not mean you're not playing smart. As a coach, no matter how complicated my system is for my opponents, I try to make it as simple for my players as I can. I want them to play fast and creatively. I want it to become instinctual. With that said, I make my life hard by creating a complicated system that can attack spaces or players where I see a mismatch. . . and then convert it to something that makes sense to my players. They don't have to think about what they're doing, they just do it based on what they see and feel. That's what I'm hoping to see out of the Jazz. Creativity and freedom, bound within the perimeter of a rigid system that allows them to play fast, but smart.

I would love to make it to the western conference finals while being the most entertaining team in the league
