The Sacramento Kings' latest ploy to trade for an unguaranteed Kevin Love is the sign of a larger problem for them. They are on the clock with Cousins and their roster is filled like the Island of Misfit Toys. I believe they are just as interested in wiping contracts off the books as they are in actually getting the services of Love. If their gambit falls through, there might be an opportunity for the Jazz to do another Golden State move.
Jazz Take: Derrick Williams, Carl Landry, the ghost of Jason Terry, #8 pick
Jazz Give: Rudy Gobert
That's it, we give Rudy Gobert who would actually fit in well in Sacramento because he would never touch the ball and would only be there for defense. We take on 17 million in salaries, 11 million of which falls off the books next year as long as we don't extend Williams. Landry is a problem as he has 3 years left at 6 million. This puts Sacramanto 11 million under the cap and allows them to sign Thomas without problems and look for a vet to fill out the bench. They have enough young blood so they don't have to worry about adding more draft picks and need to start winning now.
The Jazz get #5 and #8 which gives us a lot of possibilities. Landry as the last big off the bench doesn't suck either and him and Terry could provide leadership without demanding a ton of time on the court. Williams might give us something or not, but he is only taking up space for a year.
Do you do this deal? Who do you get at #5 and #8, or what do you think we could flip #5 and #8 for?
