Gobert should start

I think we trade Favors. I know how unpopular that is.. but we need bait that yields and Favors doesn't give us any real advantage in the game. Gobert does.
Kanter won't get us ****.

Exum
?
Hayward
?
Gobert
Gobert is the far superior rim protector at this point. Favors defense is hut and miss.

Favors could get us a decent return. Do it!

I agree that we definetely need to get something from Kanter, he is better in the boxscore than on the court.

Gobert is a beast, but why shouldn't a front duo of Favors - Gobert work? Just like yesterday vs the Wolves.
It was the Wolves. They are poor offensively and defensively.

I'm not too worried about extending kanter... We need to see how the draft order plays out. If we land a top 3 pick and can take towns or Okafor then Kanter becomes expendable. We could likely still sign and trade him to someone who is over the cap.

I'm also really not sure he commands a huge salary. I think he'll be right around 10 M per year. Look around at who would trade for him... Not a lot of good fits. FA may be similar... Although it only takes one dumb GM to overpay a guy.

$48 million to Hay, Favors, Burks and Kanter is just way too much. $10 million might look nice in isolation, but we can't be paying an average core 4 that much.

Do you think the Jazz know what they have Rudy Gobert? It sounds like a dumb question, but I have to wonder. The Jazz have always like to play defensively soft players with an offensive game over better defenders. I could see them matching on Kanter and just leaving Rudy on the bench for a few years. Which is a mistake imo.

Part of me still doesn't trust the Jazz even though a new regime is here now.

Not with this salary cap, but if it goes to like 90 mil in the next few years, then it will not be a problem. Would rather not have Burks and Kanter though. At this point, it is doubtful either will be as good as Hay and Favors.

I doubt that is going to happen. Quin kinda seems to dislike or even hate Kanter. I would bet even if both players are on the team, Rudy is starting next year, and possibly by the end of this year. The only qualifier I would add is that maybe Rudy does not start if he and Favors can't play together. But Rudy would still probably get 30 minutes per game.

Agree with this... Also if it looks good in isolation then you will be able to move it if need be.

I think the core of this team is Hay, Favors, Gobert, and Exum as of right now. Depending on where our pick lands you can add that player to this mix as well.

Another game like the one in Minny with Kanter out and I'm not sure how you go back to Kanter as a starter. Tonight will be interesting if Kanter can't go.

Maybe not back in October, but I think they do now. Harpring mentioned Trey aand Rudy had been working on P&R's. Rudy got some chances in the Minnesota game. Before, he was simply a screener. Now he's actually getting the ball thrown to him.

It's a tough call, but I could see the Jazz deciding to go with Gobert, Favors and Booker and drafting or pursuing another big. In the end, I think they'll keep Kanter. Just too much potential to give up on at age 22. Bigs always get hurt. And Kanter has shown improvement in a different role than he's had in the past.

All the more reason to ship Kanter's *** out for Otto Porter. I'd be willing to throw in a future 1st round pick too. It's not like we are going to be picking very high in the draft with Porter and Gobert starting. amirite?

Well, it's about time. They should throw a few more passes to him too. He deserves it. I think he's better on offense than he's given credit for. His length on offense can be an advantage too. It's been bugging me to watch everyone pass around him and trying to avoid him. We should be going to him a lot so he can be that much better next year.

I'm with ya. I think it's a pretty fair trade, and worth a gamble because we have Rudy. I don't know if we have to include a pick though. Maybe a 2nd but not a first. I think Kanter's and Otto's value is pretty similar. Otto with the nod because he's on a rookie deal.

Agree. Also, Gobert seems like a decent passer so if nothing is there for him, he'll find someone to kick it out to...he's not a black hole like Big Al or Kanter.

Rudy is not great when he has the ball. He is an excellent pass through guy. Every great pass he has had has been a touch pass. He needs to figure out a few things to be a great all around passer. He seems to panic when he has the ball too long in the post, and can't create offense. He also needs to get better at catching passes that are less than perfect passes.

Well are starters have one of the best offensive ratings in the NBA, so I would say they are better than average. I think you can cut Kanter and add in a cheaper substitute though.

Exactly. The instincts and natural ability are there. The comfort with the ball and consistency aren't though. I think he will get there and be a very good passing big man, but he isn't yet. I would say he is an average passer with occasional glimpses of his future passing ability.

Just shut the **** up and genuflect.

All hail the mighty Gobert.

I can't read this rubbish.

I'm tired of the offense trying to go around Rudy. It seems like they are more willing to throw a bad pass half cross the court to Ingles for a turnover. Wtf is that? Just dump it into to Rudy a few times so our offense works better. Let him shoot a couple time, let him do a couple post ups, and let him pass it a few times. Have Rudy start shooting few outside shots so he is just limited to rolling to the basket everytime. I'm sure he isn't gonna be all that bad. He can shoot free throws and he's tall, so he can get his shots off. Don't we want to develop him? What are we waiting for? It's not like our team is bursting at the seams with shooters. It doesn't have to be a ton, just some, instead of none would be nice.

I notice it's Hayward a lot that tries not to pass to Rudy. It seems like he has a beef with him or something. There's even been times where I thought they going at each other a little bit after Rudy says something to him.

I like that Rudy is fighting for his spot on the team. He isn't afraid to make mistakes and speak his voice.
