Gobert should start

I remember people mocking me in the comments when I first started the "gobert's rise to be the greatest Jazz center of all time" thread last year. Not many doubters now.

Well, I'm not convinced he'll pass Eaton, but it's reasonably possible. Does that make me a doubter?

Why do people not understand this?

Colloquially, "above-average" requires to be a little more than just barely above the mean. What's the mean PER differential for starting 4s in the league, and how far above it is Favors?

Favors is a center, except when playing with Gobert. Which means he's been a center the majority of the year.

List all of the starting PF's and C's in the league and tell me where Favors ranks among them. He's above average.

Average big, not average player. I don't consider Kanter to be above average. Not sure Rudy is there yet either.
Fair enough, but even still, misty teams have 4 or 5 bigs on thier team so average would be about the 2nd or 3rd best big on any given team.

I think there are alot of teams that enes and gobert would be a top 2 or 3 big on them

I took the original post in this matter to say that our bigs are above average vs all other bigs in the league, bench bigs included, not just starters

I'll do this thing for you, I figure you won't do it yourself.

Enes Kanter

Now then…Favors is in the top 10 for double-doubles among post players.
- Top 10 in rebound for PF's (that's where he's listed, so it's just easier to go with that, but he would be top 10 for centers as well).
- Top 10 in scoring (he would be top 5 if he was listed as a center, which is where he plays).
- Top 5 in blocks (would still be in the top 10 as a center).
- averages more assists than turnovers as a post player. That's very good. (he's in the top 20 as a PF for APG)
- he's typically in the 5-8 range on most statistics, yet is only #10 in minutes.

So tell me again how he's average? Thanks.

I'd also like to point out my boy Jusuf Nurkic has been putting up 11/7/3 in 19 mpg for his last 5 games. Stud.

Nice work
Looking at that list I would rank kanter Gobert above alot of the guys in the 3rd group.

We really are a team blessed with good, very very young bigs (all with good size and some differing skillsets)

Gobert probably, but as of now, he's not starting.

Enes…no. I just don't see him as being better than a lot of those guys. His defense is terrible.

I would put kanter and gobert at least in the mix with these guys and better than most.

I know you are down on kanter alot more than me though and with stud defenders like olynyk, sullinger, marvin, markieff, simms, and jason smith involved I guess I can see why. I mean those guys are fantastic defenders

Nobody would dare go into the paint against a great rim protector like jason smith

You said a lot. A lot would mean the majority. I would not say Enes is better than the majority of those players.

I would take Olynyk, Morriss, LARRY SANDERS! (if mentally there), and Jared Sullinger over Kanter from your list.

Since I mentioned Mozgov, the Cavs traded 2 1st rounders for him. Could we get that for Enes? I doubt it.

Just curious... how crazy are we about Gobert? What would it take for a team to pry him away from us trade wise? Also, if we land Okafor in the draft do you think they could play together? Things I think about when bored at work.

I'm pretty stoked about the dude. He's pretty untouchable. It would be hard for a team to pry him away, because the Jazz would ask for a lot. Like they would only trade him for a sure thing like wiggins or an established young star.

Luckily that means gobert is a Jazzman for a while. No team is willing to give up as much as the Jazz will ask for him.

I can see it working only because of what I saw in the scrimmage and summer league...... I know it's a crime to judge anything off those events but his defense and chemistry on that end, infected his teammates in a very positive way.

He also showed that he is a willing and able passer on offense and sets very good screens which also helps the offense.

Having said that... I still think kanter will show even more offensive skills and be a beast on the boards.

It's nice to have these three very young talented bigs to develop and see where they end up.

Is there a link to Rudy's first Summer League experience thread? Because I'm pretty sure that I asked "When will Rudy cut Enes?"
