Gobert should start

In games where Gobert plays 30 minutes or more this season (only 6 games):

8.3 ppg
11.8 rpg
3.5 blocks/gm
1.0 steal/gm
58% FG

Give this kid 35 minutes every night and he'll be putting up all-star type numbers.

Lost in this discussion a little bit is the fact that if Gobert plays center it allows Favs to go from undersized center to bigger PF. So we get more length at two key positions. Everyone can see this is where we are headed... lets not mess around Jazz... do the right thing Quin.

Not taking any of the improvement that Kanter has made, but I think that Rudy has earned the chance to start. With that said, I think that Kanter off the bench could be awesome. He can score and his defense is improved. Making that move doesn't automatically kill his value either. Especially if they can get him some court time with Gobert.

A couple of tweets about Rudy.

Gobert is evolutionary JaVale.

lol. Gobert scored 11 points in the third and grabbed three rebounds. Roy Hibbert pissed him off.

As the matter of fact I've watched every game so far. Rudy is awesome and all but if we hold him to the same standard as Kanter then he was schooled by Hibbert who had its way and showed how raw and inexperienced Rudy is so far in man to man defense. Hibbert almost always was able to establish his position deep in the post (same issue with Kanter) and was taking away Rudy's length factor by going to his chest and throwing him off balance before getting the shot off. That's how experienced bigs will be playing against him and as I said Hibbert's offense is average at best.

I am not saying Rudy's overall defensive p[erformance is on par with Kanter's but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Not so much just his one on one defense which did pretty well against Pau, but his ability to clean up the others defensive mistakes against driving 1-4's as opposed to no help at all opposing layups that really have made a difference in the numerous close losses. Also just makes everyone get out on the perimeter defense knowing they have the Gobstopper there. Nobody has really beat us up as bad as in the past on the 3 point line lately.

Kanter has 0 say about returning to Utah. He is a RFA.

You bench him, you lose him. He is an emotional person with "Eastern" mentality.
Favors + Gobert should start sooner or later but gotta think about business and future cap flexibility here.
Kanter probably won't be a starter on this team. Either trade Kanter or resign him to a reasonable and tradable contract. You harm both these options by benching him at this point.

Then we lose him. There is zero reason to screw with Rudy at this point. None. He is better, he is younger, he has earned the position, Every other starter would rather have him starting. Kanter is not the future of the Jazz at Center so if that is going to be a problem, might as well suss that out now. If Kanter plays for the Jazz long term it will be off he bench unless somebody is hurt. You never have a dollar waiting on a dime. I can't see how this is even arguable. Additionally, Kanter's number will only get better off the bench and we kinda NEED him there at this point, because our bench is terrible. If this is a problem with Kanter, then screw him, quite frankly, he hasn't earned the right to be a diva.

If I am Kanter, when I come back I want to prove "I" am the one who should play along Rudy in the future. The fight is now, if he is a competitor, he wants to make Favors the odd man out, because Gobert is becoming a virtual cornerstone already.

Favors is a true bad ***. No way he is losing his job to kanter.

I think what the baby is trying to say is he wants a cookie.

^the funny thing is, this guy is ****ing serious right now.

(This thread is definitely not evidence that I wanted to tarde Kanter, though, amiright gais?)

Great call.
