Gobert's 3PT Attempt

Not going to lie, this actually looked pretty good.

He rushed it, but his mechanics are indicative of a guy who can shoot above 30% from 3.

Exactly my thought. He was affected by nerves and rushing the shot far more than anything related to his mechanics. Form looked good. Why not get him a couple shots a game, he might get comfortable with it. We have seen him hit plenty of those in practice. It could translate to a reasonable pick and pop situation. Then what do defenses do? Die, that's what. In the words of Mr Miagi "no can defense".

Im really blown away by how fluid his shot was. The elevation from a 7'1 guy on a jumper is pretty wild, especially from a guy who isnt really a jumper. For some reason I thought he would have more of a set shot, not something that looked like Steph Curry.

You should google some of his practice shooting. I went down that rabbit hole one night and found a half dozen videos of him draining 3s pretty solidly with good form and good lift on the shot. Enough that I wish he would shoot more in games. Why the hell not? Can't be worse to give him a wide open 3 now and then than it is to watch Clarkson chuck up some off-balance heavily contested 3 early in the shot clock.

I mean, we tried to make favs a three point shooter and it looks like Rudy has much better form. Let it fly big fella!

Yeah, I've seen the practice shots. Shooting at game speed is an entirely different animal though and I was just impressed that it was that fluid, though obviously rushed.

Yeah that is my point, get him a few in the flow of the game now and then and he will get used to shooting at game speed. Could be something. Can't hurt more than some of the ****** shots Clarkson and Mitchell chuck in every single game.

Well, it looks better than when he tries to back down people with the ball in his hands. I say give me MOAR!!

Literally anything is better than Gobert posting up from more than 3 feet out. I have no idea why that is when the team is most willing to give him the ball, but it is what it is.

Wild that this is true (AND he should get more deep touches in the paint when he has a mismatch even though he is awkward AF).

Thought he'd look more like Brook Lopez shooting 3's?
