In hindsight, but Kanter was a rookie fresh off a year of not playing at all, and Favors was so up and down that I didnt have a ton of confidence in him. I can see why they weren't so quick to pull the trigger on anything crazy at that point. But yes, in hindsight that would have been nice.

Of course, that is why I said in the next sentence, "I am hopeful that like Lindsey said they are trying to keep their flexibility for the future, but the FO has said that since last trade deadline with no results yet."

If that is what happened, I do feel like though the organization should be explaining it better to the fans. Why no statements along of the lines of "we tried to make some trades, but what was being offered would have left us worse", something along those lines. While secrecy is good while trade talks are going on, once the deadline is past, it does not hurt to try to be forthcoming about the direction of the team to the fans. I think that is part of the reason why so many on here are so upset at the moment. The secrecy of the FO is getting to the point where it is making the fans question it.

Explanations would be nice, but are not necessary. I see what you are saying though.

The teams MO is to be good, try and stay good, and not do anything crazy that might kill the Jazz altogether. Which is a solid approach.

I've watched the Jazz a long time, and listened to a BIL who was on the inside through the eighties. I never liked what I heard.

Utah has always had this thing about being "solid" without the actual winning mentality. I'd watch all the games and just see it as "no guts to win" while people like Michael Jordan took the ball to the basket no matter who stood in the way.

We're never going to get there. . . to the championship. . . . without champions.

Just move the flat-footed solids along, please.

You think they don't want players like MJ and Kobe (who is carrying the Lakers on his back right now)? I think they know that if the Jazz become bad, like BAD, for a few years its position in SLC might become perilous.

Maybe not to that extent, but doing anything rash, trading Sap or Al before we knew Favors and Kanter would be NBA players would be a rash decision IMO. We didn't know Kanter would progress this quickly, I think we have learned Favors has a lower ceiling than most thought. No those weren't the only two options, but there are other ways to make irresponsible moves.

well, the John Stocktons don't fall in our lap every year. But still, when you have a Kanter sitting on the bench, no flat footed solids should stand in the way of letting him run.

Sure we're not going to be ever in a strong position to bargain for the talent that's already shining. That's why you don't keep the flat-footed solids, and you do go to the players who will give it all they've got.
 
sitting in the middle of the pack doesnt allow you to get to the top as easy as being bad and maybe drafting the Lebron or Durant.Jazz just like to set their mark for the playoffs,and use spin on the fans that way they sell tickets and make a buck. no risk no reward when your small market.
