Here's what Hayward can't, and will never do: He'll never be a guy who beats his man off the dribble. He'll never finish at the rim of a drive with consistency. He'll never be a knock down shooter. He'll never learn a runner (he hasn't done one yet)
Here's what he can learn (and/or be good at): He can be good on the PnR. He can get more consistent on set shots. He can learn a stop and pop in the lane from 5-7 (iffy, but he can do it.) He can become a player who signs a contract beyond the MLE, but hopefully not with us unless he improves.
He isn't athletic enough to finish at the rim. Without that you can't be a 'franchise' player in the NBA.
Lol excuses. Hayward choked. Ginobili's old *** made a young Hayward look like utterly bad.

I think trading Big Al will put players like Hayward in the best position possible.
Hayward is a team player. He'd fit in great with the Spurs. I think he'll step up big time if the offense isn't centered around Big Al.
We need to be a free flowing team that moves the ball around well, pick and rolls, and has improved shooting.
When teams are packing the paint he needs to hit that shot. I still believe he's going to be a good shooter, and boarderline all-star for us. This playoff series was a big of a let down though. Let's see how he responds next year.
And this is a guy we want long term?
Hayward shot horribly the last two games. Frankly, I would have played him less in those two games.
.
He shot horribly in all series. I think he made total of 3 jumpers.
Still a far-cry better than "all the players selected after him in the 2010 Draft", like Patterson, Davis and Landry, eh AKMVP?

Growing pains. Look at Paul George's numbers, he's have a rough playoffs as well.
This is par for the course. But from what we've seen from Hayward, he'll work his *** off this summer and improve.
You can work 24hr a day and you wont get much better if you do not have natural talent. Koufos, Price and Araujo were gym rats who worked their asses off during summer and during season and yet never improved to be a difference makers.
We need to lower our expectations for hayward than it will be not as painful when they won't be met. Look at some pre-season posts, some crazy optimists here expected him to average 20pts a game.
Maybe this off season we will get a real shooting coach and our shooting will show a slight improvement for once. Hornacek=great shooter but not a decent shooting coach.
Hayward has shown he's capable of 15-5-5, which gives me a renob.
