Grade our players for the week

I'll just grade the (5) in my opinion that will matter the most to this franchise going forward:

Burke: "D+" Still think he'll be just fine, but a rough week no doubt. Shot obviously way off, but not much else looked great either. Made a handful of nice passes. Defense was alright throughout and he did play better today for stretches.
Neto: "B" Picked things up very quickly and seemed to mesh with everyone immediately
Burks: "B+" When he was out there he looked like he had no business being in the Summer league, which was good
Gobert "A-" Very active and quick for his size, even showed a couple nice offensive moves which was very promising to see. My only knock would be that he seemed to get out worked on rebounds despite having height/length on everyone. I'm sure once he bulks up a bit he'll be able to use that body much better.
Evans: "B" Looks like he's been working on that jumper and he looks like he bulked up a bit as well. Two things he'll definitely need if the Jazz plan on playing him in the rotation. Rebounding still wasn't good.

Gilbert's most glaring flaw is definitely rebounding.

Luckily, rebounding is one of the most easy things to teach. Hopefully he has soft hands, and bulks up. Good backup big potential.

The hell? He has been getting 7-9 rebounds a game?

A) Not hard when teams are shooting very-low percentages from the field-- hence why we saw Burke pulling down >5 (which will rarely happen in-season)

B) Look at his rebounding position. His fundamentals. His boxing-out.

Classic example of how stats often don't tell you the entire story.

If Jeremy's jumpshot carries over to the regular season, I guarentee he'll have good minutes this season

Everything is fine except when the ball gets knocked out of his hands sometimes.

Nope. His boxing-out is sub-par. He completely relies on reach for rebounding. He'll be giving up offensive boards left and right if he doesn't improve (which I'm sure he will)

If he can get three-feet above the rim anyway why does it matter and it's Gobert not Gilbert, hack.

Hopefuls I would like:
Roberts: A - would like to see him off the bench next year.
Christmas: B + was pretty good as well.
Stockton: B + Really like this kid. I went to Westminster when he did and have seen a lot of his game, he deserves a roster spot this year.

Our Guys:
Burks: A. Looks butter. Jump shot looks mechanically sound. Better defense. Good motor.
Evans: A- Looked really good toward end of camp. Went into beast mod, showing off his new jump shot, etc.
Gobert: A. I really like his motor and potential. Needs to work on his shot, but is farther along than I thought.
Burke: D- Shot didn't fall, but that will hopefully come. His decision making and pace was bad, team seemed worse when he was out there. Didn't like the hero ball and looking for his own shot before others. The success of our other guys (and how they will be evaluated) will hinge on how well he sets them up.
Neto: B His first game was a thing of beauty, the next two weren't horrible, but weren't as good. Really liked his pace and how the team and offense moved when he was out there. Seems like more of a pure point than Burke.

By this logic Zach Randolph should be one of the worst rebounding PFs in the league, and Charles Barkley probably never cracked 5rpg

iPhone autocorrect.

Can't wait to see Golbert being outhustled by the likes of Blair, and Kenneth Faried despite being half a foot taller than both.

considering the expectations going into summer league, my grades are:

Burke - F (really hyped up, "franchise pg, good shooter, good leader, makes good decisions" --- none of those things really came through)
Burks - A- (wanted to see improved ft shooting and shooting overall --- saw both)
Evans - A (really didnt have much expectation other than alley oops --- impressed to see a consistent midrange game)
Neto - B (had no idea what to expect --- was blown away early on by his play, but came back to earth by the end of the SL)
McNeal - C (He's still a scrub - Still sadly ended up looking better than burke several times)
Gobert - A- (I had no idea what to expect, many posters here have been pretty high on him so i expected good things --- he delivered mostly, needs to work on hands and position)

Evans B+. I thought he looked really bad game one and had moments after.
Gobert A. I think he is a steal. Let the Mailman work with him and we might have a monster.
Burks B. I'm not sure he's an NBA star yet but he did OK
Burk D. He did quite a few little things well but when you know you're shot is off quit chucking.
Raul B. He ran the team OK but didn't shoot worth a darn.

Others I would like to see brought to camp Roberts, Christmas, Mays, Stockton and the Ohio State guy.

I think they were all pretty good.
