Grades from last night....

Hayward (B-) Had a very Hayward line which was nice, FT's eh
Favors (B+) Seemed to be the only one who could get anything going on offense for a while and had a nice line of 16/9. Got baited into some forced shots though
Gobert (B-) Still plays angry even though it's pre-season, which I loved. Seemed like his emotions though were getting to him a bit and played frustrated in the 1st half, had a nice 3rd quarter though
Burke (C+) Definitely looked like the same Burke as last year minus one pass I can remember where I thought for sure he would shoot, but laid it off nicely for a Favors dunk. Made his FT's
Burks (C) Couldn't score anything, but did create a couple nice buckets for teammates
Neto (B+) Had a handful of really nice passes that either led to scores or at least good opportunities to score. Was crazy pesky on defense which was a real nice surprise.
Ingles (B) Nice rounded game and was actually able to make a 3-point shot which is something no one else on the team could manage.
Hood (D+) Just an off night, couldn't hit a shot
Booker (B) Another solid game, brought the energy we desperately need at times
Pleiss (B+) Looked pretty timid at first and still looked a little clunky out there, but as the game went on I thought he did a good job. Good rebounds + made FT's
Lyles (B-) Made a couple nice plays and got abused a couple times inside. To be expected
Millsap (B) Again nothing really jumped out from Baby Sap, but played a solid game.
Withey (B+) Played 4 minutes, took 8 free throws and made 7.

I agree with most of your grades.
I would probably have pliess just a tiny bit lower and lyles a tiny bit lower.

Granted I didn't watch the last 5 minutes, but from what I saw I thought Hayward deserved an A. I was very impressed. He looked like the best player on either team in my opinion.

Hayward didn't look like he was aggressively trying to score during the stints I focused on him, but rather he seemed like he was just trying to move the ball. He can get his shoulder by his defender almost at will and is strong enough to get straight into the lane, but most the time he was trying to set up our bigs. He had a few really nice drop-offs for Gobert resulting in dunks and fouls. Look for that type of drive and dish to Gobert all year. That's going to be difficult to stop.

Neto was a solid B+. I really like his game last night. Will be interesting to see if he can sustain it or if it was just the Lakers second unit....

Oops... meant to like Colton's post. Gordon came out and dominated Kobe and anyone else who tried to stand in his way, got to the line early, and just looked physically powerful compared to basically everyone else. Then he went low-key (I'm guessing Snyder told him to sit back and not get himself injured against a bunch of Lakers hacks) the rest of the game. I'm excited to see him in regular-season form.

Neto's defense will make him very valuable as a disrupter.

Making the other PG focus on keeping the ball away from him will limit their ability to initiate their own offense. I am excited to see him against some of the really good PG's out there to see how that skill translates.

I missed the game, but between reading the play-by-play in the game thread and this thread and the rest of the posts pertaining to last night I am amped up! This team is going to crush everyone once they get it totally dialed.

The news about Neto and Pleiss have me especially pumped.

Keep in mind that Neto cannot shoot and Pleiss needs to spend a ton of time in the gym building up his muscle mass. He was getting pushed around in the paint.

But the whole I am very pleased with what I saw.

Now for Burks and Hood to turn it on.

I thought the 3 standouts were Gtime, Favs, and Raul. Gordon and Favors were on a completely different level then anyone else on the court. They weren't playing with 100% intensity but they gave it enough to show they are better then everyone else.

Rauls tenacity was a joy to watch. He was doing passes that reminded me of Ricky Rubio.

I don't think Tibor was awful by any means but I don't see what everyone is so positive about.

I love the fact that Neto and Pleiss both seem like smart players.

Except for Burke, I'm super confident that the other 8 top players of the Jazz will gel and get the most from each other. And now we have Neto and Pleiss, who due to their aptitude for the game, should too.

1. Hayward
2. Favors
3. Gobert
4. Burks
5. Hood
6. Booker
7. Ingles
8. Millsap

9. Neto
10. Pleiss

That's what I saw. At the start of the game Gordon WAS being an aggressive scorer, and pretty much having his way. I was impressed.

Yes. Pleiss in particular didn't impressive me as much as he apparently did others in this thread. There were several plays where I felt he should have grabbed the rebound but had it slip through his fingers or otherwise couldn't hang onto it due to lack of strength.

....the way they "slapped knots on there heads faster than they could rub them", I'd say the all deserved A's against the newly revamped Laker roster!

14 missed free throws and 2 of 15 from three and we still win by that much.

Very solid.

Not sure how Whithy doesn't get an A. Played 4 min shot 8 ft's and made a huge impact in that time. He will make the team. Probably be Gobert's primary backup. Can shoot and defend. Stronger then Pleiss. Think he probably needs time to adjust to the NBA

I like Withey, I think Pleiss would do well going to the d-league for a good chunk of time.

I was raving on Booker last year when the Jazz signed him. That turned out great. Feel the same about Whithy. Think of him as an athletic Ostertag with a jumpshot. But also works harder.
