Greek Freak

I was watching 60 Minutes last night to stay appraised of current events. The 2nd story was about the Greek Freek. It said he lasted until the 15th pick of the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft before being drafted by the Bucks. That is when we traded up to draft Trey Burke. Who was the GM that year DL or KOC?

Dude, we got Rudy in the same draft.
We could have had both, i was one of the few who was against moving up for Burke. Can we only imagine if the Jazz had pick the freak with the first pick and rudy with the second 1st rounder. Now i can't take credit for wanting to pick both of the guys even though they were on my list. However, I was upset they moved up for Burke and wasn't a big fan of his.

However, I agree in hindsight it is easy to say we should have pick this guy. All I remember while watching 60 minutes is thinking man can you imagine this Jazz team with him on the roster. We would be serious contenders.

Jazz had zero PG's on the roster. They HAD to get a PG. Trey was the most NBA-ready PG. A very bad example of drafting dire need over BPA.

Personally, I was hoping the Jazz would trade back for Schroder and also take Gobert with their two picks. Schroder is no Giannis but drafting him sure would have saved a lot of first round picks.

Trey was the guy I wanted. Not the guy we needed, but the guy I wanted.

I had the same reaction as u to trading up for Burke. I wanted CJ bad. I threw a bit of a tantrum when the trade was announced lol.
In other who gives a crap news, Trey Burke had 42 points and 12 assists today. Whodathunk that was possible?
lol I saw that. He'll probably go 2-20 in the next game, seems par for the course.

Give Exum a chance to develop. He's going to be very good. He's still young, just needs time and to avoid serious injury.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure there was a rumor DL really liked a big, but felt he'd be gone before they picked. And then the opportunity came along to trade up for a PG. Imagine had Lindsey drafted Olynyk (or Adams) and then decided not to take Gobert.

Taking Burke and a very raw Gobert caused the Jazz to underperform, which then allowed Lindsey to place the blame on Corbin. I'm not sure the Millers decide to let Ty walk if Trey had been any good.

i think DL was actually going to draft the greek freak tbh, but the pressure from the outside forces prolly crobain's asshimself wanted to get tb. He's learned.

The Greek Freak wasn't anything special his rookie year and then he learned with ways of the Association. A lot of teams passed on him in the first round.

Dennis Lindsey's first year he didn't want to come in and change everything that the Jazz were doing. He was appointed the GM just a few months before if I recall. He wanted input from everyone in the process and not to come in and tell everyone how things were going to happen. Corbin needed a point guard and felt like not having one would be setting him up to fail.

Otherwise, DL wanted LENGTH, YOUTH, and INTL talent. There were two players that fit that bill in the draft more than any other player. Gobert and the Greek Freak. I think that the Jazz liked Olynyk, but I also feel like Antetokounmpo had to be on a very short list for Dennis because he checked off so many of his boxes.

Trey Burke was drafted for Corbin to be allowed to succeed not by the puppet master himself.

That's what I believe as well.
