Greg Miller buys '64 Ford GT40 for $7 million

Oh my word. I don't know much about older cars, and this one has probably been modified, but I can't think of any car that's worth more than a million.

Oh my...I wonder if this purchase will impact the finances of the Jazz. Someone is going to step in and offer a HUGE signing bonus to Kanter and Burks which Greg won't be able to match since he's shot his umm, rather, spent all his cash on a fancy new car.

It is one of those rare cars though, so I'm pretty sure it is as much of an investment as it is pleasure.

BTW - that is one of the most beautiful cars that's ever been mass produced.

Not only is it an investment, I'm sure the cost can be mitigated by using it in connection with Miller Motorsports Park (display in auto shows, advertising, etc.).

Some of the auto dealerships here in So. CA exist primarily for the purpose of the owners being able to write off the cost of exotic sports cars.

how many were manufactured? How many miles? All original?
Might be worth 7 million... then again... NAHH!

Dude got jipped. Most cars at a car auction, even on TV go for about 900,000 tops I believe.. maybe a million.
Lol if this is the case, Greg Miller has money to blow-oh-oh-oh!

Here's a better article about it. Seems like they bought the car in April for their museum. It's also the second oldest GT40 ever made and it has a rich racing history.

From Autoblog: "Now, this is not just some rare Mustang. This is a GT40, the car that Henry Ford II commissioned to whip Enzo Ferrari around a track in France. As far as the Le Mans-winning racers go, they don't get much rarer than this one. Sold at the Mecum Auctions in Houston, this is one of the prototypes, meaning it's one of the very first GT40s ever built. That makes its $7 million winning a bid, a record for on-air coverage of the auction, a pretty darn impressive figure."

I think its a good sign he likes to spend. Maybe he goes into the luxury tax one or two years if need be to keep all the core together.

Greg Miller is an embarrassment. He reminds me of Spalding from Caddyshack. It's pretty evident he couldn't care less about basketball so as long as he remains disinterested and not a meddling ******* then we should be good to go as long as he keeps having someone under him sign his name on Jazz checks.

In 25 years that car will be worth $14 million. Like art from a renaissance master, there's no such thing as a bad buy.
