Greg Miller to step down as CEO of Larry H. Miller Group of Companies (Including Utah Jazz)

I've heard rumblings that a potential move to Las Vegas and selling the team has been a consideration for many years and that there's league influence from Silver and Co. to tap into the Vegas market.

Don't forget that the NBA is basically saying that legalized gambling is here and here to stay. The timing of this with that is a bit unnerving.

I say stay in SLC but a Vegas move brings them 1-2 hours closer to me haha

I would think the NBA would pull a team from Minn, NO, Milwaukee, Charlotte to Las Vegas before they'd move the Jazz. The Jazz make too much money here.

The NBA doesn't move the teams, the owner of the team does. I think the NBA has to sign off on it and I think they would support Utah keeping their team, but at the end of the day I think it's whoever owns the team who has the most say.

It's unlikely the owners would ever vote to disallow a team to relocate, as such a vote devalues their teams. They might take action to force/encourage a sale to local owners, as they did with Sacramento and, to a much lesser extent, Seattle (Clay Bennett obviously had no intention of keeping the team there).

I think a move of the Jazz is unlikely. This was said the purpose was to bring the company a more corporate structure. My concern with that is that profit of the company may become a bigger priority than the success of the team itself.
.
If by a long shot the team does leave Utah my interest in the NBA will evaporate.

Greg Miller is getting too much credit. The dude is an idiot. Everything good the Jazz have done recently comes from Kevin O'Connor.

The Jazz are not moving. They(the millers) have to much to lose by doing so.

Gotta consider the potential negative PR associated with selling the team to the wrong person/company. If the Miller's sold the team and ended up relocating there would be a pretty large group of disgruntled Utahn's that would be so displeased they'd completely boycott a lot of the other Miller entities. Dealerships would take the biggest hit IMO. I personally would never step inside another LHM dealership if something like this occurred. I can either go to the Toyota dealership that let the Jazz leave Utah or I can go to the Toyota dealership that didn't lose the team. Easy choice.

Dude KOC barely has anything to do with the team. Greg Miller has been a great CEO for this team. He's smart enough to hire people to do their job and then hold them accountable for that job. Instead of trying to be the man for the team and ****ing it up like Jerry Jones, Kid Davis w/ the raiders and the Buss siblings. Greg took over the team and put people in place to do what he did not know how. That is the main job of a CEO.

Exactly, the Greg hate around here has died down of the past couple seasons, but early on it was ridiculous. The guy I'm sure had a big part in hiring Lindsey and Quin, that alone is being a good CEO in my book.

Everyone calm down. The Miller's still own the team, this is just transitioning from a CEO type leadership to a board of directors type. Step away from the cliff, nothing is changing for our Jazz, they aren't moving, Everything will be all right. Miller Enterprises is a multi-billion dollar business and they have gone beyond a family business. Time to bring in some real business guys to take this to the next level. Take a deep breath

One of the best decisions a person of power could make is to surround himself with smart people and delegate responsibilities to the people who can handle them. I think Greg has done great as the head of the Utah Jazz. He hired good personnel down the ladder from front office to coaching staff and the team is on a great trajectory.

I sure hope this is true.

Rumors of Millers selling Jazz to Chris Hansen and moving to Seattle are already in motion.

Wait, why would the millers move to Seattle? Couldn't they just stay here, or maybe buy a nice place in San Diego the weather is much better there.

You heard it here first - I have someone that works for the company and the news was just released.

Greg Miller is stepping down as the CEO of the Miller Companies and Gail Miller will step in until a new CEO is found.

I know many are going to ask for a 'source' and I can't post what I just received.

I wonder what this potentially could mean for the Utah Jazz......

You "have" someone? Like tied up in your basement? I am sure they will say anything to get you to stop asking them to put the lotion on their skin. No one wants the hose.

I like to bust Greg's balls; but seriously, I bet LHM worked 20 hour days most of his career. I'm sure that type of lifestyle appeals to very few people, especially those that came from money to begin with - unlike LHM whom I'm to understand starting with basically nothing

I can't blame him for stepping down - let someone else manage your family investments and go enjoy yourself.

If you've already got a gajillion dollars why the fuu would you waste your life working all the time?
