Greg Miller to step down as CEO of Larry H. Miller Group of Companies (Including Utah Jazz)

I've heard rumblings that a potential move to Las Vegas and selling the team has been a consideration for many years and that there's league influence from Silver and Co. to tap into the Vegas market.

Don't forget that the NBA is basically saying that legalized gambling is here and here to stay. The timing of this with that is a bit unnerving.

Jazz never drew well when they were in Las Vegas when they first moved to SLC. I would think the league would be upset about this. Utah is a shining example of small market success. I would be totally bumped if they left SLC and I no longer live in Utah.

Good thinking.

So, would the name be changed to the Utah Brethren? The mascot changed to The White Sally (Salamander)? Nachos replaced in the food court with green jello w/carrot shavings?

I have a really hard time seeing the Jazz sold. I don't think there's any way Gail would ever do it. Larry would literally roll over in his grave. Remember, she's still Chairman of the Board.

If the Jazz is truly being handed over to a board of directors, there's no question that they'd at least consider selling the team. The whole reason this team has stayed in UT is because the family cares about the state and its residents. A board of directors wouldn't necessarily care about that. If the right offer came along they could easily be intrigued.

It's too bad Greg has more passion for his hair gel collection than he does for carrying on his parents' legacy. It's clear that, other than Gail (who won't be around forever), nobody in the family gives a crap about keeping the team here.

Hopefully it will never be us, but don't think that shiny new arena off the strip will stay vacant with just concerts and entertainment. Either through expansion or a move, it will be occupied in the very near future.

Not sure how many billionaires live in Utah, but we do have one of the wealthiest religious organizations in the entire world firmly planted in Salt Lake City...does that count?

I know every billionaire in Utah, personally.. and NONE would remotely consider buying/owning a sports franchise.

Not saying the team is leaving or anything, just saying what I said.

So you're saying and not saying at the same time. Pure insider action.

What will it be?

Kentucky Jazz?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm super-duper impressed. How many of the world's billionaires do you know? I'm guessing most.

Louisville is viable. I actually think Las Vegas has tons of marketing potential. And I am in no way suggesting I think the team in moving.

All of them in Utah.
A handful outside of Utah.
Glad you're impressed.

Isn't Huntsmen the only billionaire in Utah?
