What's new

GT: Jazz at Grizzlies 6:00 MST

We might be back to thinking Burks' contract is a bargain. He had a great game. Hit some big shots in the 4th. I think he scored 11 of his 23 in the 4th quarter.
13 in the 4th.
(4 Were simply end of the game free throws though)

I just looked up Burks' stats and he's shooting 39.9%?
Ya for the most part, Burks has had a down year.

He is doing a good job trying to play within the system and hitting free throws and threes, but struggling to finish his two point field goals.

Rebounding, assists, and to's are all pretty good so far, he is at career highs from three (with career high attempts) and from the line, plus a career high assist to turnover rate, yet he is still having a down year so far imo

It was bs.

Especially when you consider the blatant 5 step travel Conley got away with against Golden State a few days ago.

Agreed.

By the letter of the law - it was a travel. These DO NOT GET Called.

If we followed letter of the law there would be 10 more travels, 8 more palmings, 20 more fouls a game.

I wan to to watch athletes play, not refs blow whistles....

Jazz getting lucky in some of these games though.

No Randolph tonight

No Bosh w/ Heat.

Teams letting Kanter off the hook.
True. I think last night had a lot to do with Memphis being tired too, but the jazz were playing their 5th game in 7 nights as well. Seems like the Jazz have been historically terrible at taking advantage of teams when a game came on a platter. Some random D-league dude goes off for 30+ or some other catastrophe. Pretty sweet W last night.

So? If Burks misses those this game could have had a drastically different ending.

I agree. just saying that those 4 pts at the end of the game didn't come in the flow of the game. They were intentional fouls and with him now being a great free throw shooter they were just stat stuffers really.

Guys stats always look good when they are good free throw shooters getting fouled over and over at the end of close games.

Yes they were big free throws and he deserves credit for making them but he didn't "earn" the free throws.

The other nine points he scored in the 4th were legit though and he is probably the main reason that the jazz held on to win the game. Great 4th quarter by Alec.

And the Jazz should go 2-1 over the next 3 as well.

27th - Sixers come to town
29th - @ Clips
30th - Wolves come to town

This will make the Jazz 11-21

Right back in the playoff hunt! ;)

Kind of shook my head at Burks taking that 20 foot shot with eleven seconds left, but he made it.

sent from a phone ya bish

Hayward wasn't even contesting the travelling call - he was complaining about the Vince Carter clothes line that didn't get called; which caused the travel.

I think he's right about where Hayward was last year in terms of trying to do too much and having it backfire. I'm glad that he's learning to play within the system, but still able to be productive. He'll keep growing and improving and then let it flow naturally instead of forcing things. Long term, I still hope that the Jazz can get a longer (better defensive) wing to pair with Hayward and then let Burks wreck havoc off the bench.

Three-point percentages
Burks: .382
Hayward: .367
Exum: .362
Kanter: .345
Booker: .308
Burke: .306
Hood: .291

Not bad. I could see this being a strength next year with more improvement in year two under Quin and organic growth from the youngsters. I expect Hood's number to increase big time. He's got great form and a confidence to him imo. Burke should be taken out back and shot.

Burke just has too much confidence in himself and his shot isn't falling. He should be given the directive to distribute more and stop taking 3's and long 2's. Quin won't do that to him, but he should.

His shot isn't falling makes it sound like he's in a slump. His shot will never fall because, well, he stinks.

I'm not on the "Trey sucks" bandwagon yet but my hope is starting to dwindle. He might be the player that doesn't pan out for the Jazz.

Burke was pretty huge in sealing up the Grizzlies win.

Did you mean Alec?
BUrks scored 13 points in the 4th, including 6 of the last 10 and the go-ahead shot.
Trey did have a nice 3PT play. That shot was key: it raised his percentage for the game from 28% to 38%!
