What's new

GT: Jazz @ Super Sonics | 12/13/15 | 5pm MT

All blaming Millsap but at least he played decent defense. Booker got 30 minutes and brought almost nothing on the table, he was running around for nothing. He is hesitant to close around the rim, he does not rebound on defense, he can't shoot free throws.

y'all bitching about moral victories are hilarious. Are basketball players not ****ing human?

This is how humanity grows. Each, and every single one of us. Jordan got his *** whooped by the Pistons before he acclaimed greatness. Lebron got whooped twice in the Finals before he succeeded. Even this ****ing OKC team has routinely had their asses handed back to them.

We are not gonna hit the Finals-- I'm sorry. This is a year for growth. For cake-baking. I don't care wtf you call it. We will continue to nurture our players, just like we did with Favors. We will maintain cap and asset flexibility, in order to make a splash if we're feeling the need for a run.

We will make the playoffs this year. That is what should be the expectation. Anything more is unnecessary, and strays from the long-term vision of this team.

this is so obvious. Our biggest flaw right now is our big depth. There is nothing that comes anywhere close. Hard to win games when our defense goes anemic without Derrick.

lets also remember we are missing two starters.

Except our team is completely ****ing different than theirs. They had a good PG, a superb two-way big, and a good scoring PF. Zero wings.

We have arguably the best trio of young wings in the NBA (all who complement each other differently), inferior PGs, an incredible two-way big and a defensive stud at the 5.

Any talk about ceilings for this team is so ****ing insane. The truth is this: we have no ****ing idea. All that we know is we need to take the long-term growth route. Patience.

I blame Quin that played a strange lineup with Ingles in the 4th quarter when we were up by 7 or 8 points. He had to call a timeout to design the last possession. He is too passive in pressure situations.

This is only the 2nd close loss this season where I felt the Jazz just choked down the stretch (the other being @ Cleveland).

In the other close losses I thought the Jazz played pretty well down the stretch.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Booker is a great addition either. But I'd take him over Millsap. I'd like to see us without Booker, Ingles, and Millsap. I've come to see Burke as a fine off-the-bench pg.

yeah milsap the guy who was +15 on the court, the highest of any jazz member

I'm gonna keep preachin that our defense is what will bring the goods. We outscored the thunder by 15when he was there. I don't think he should play big mins every night, but when there is an elite pg or wing I think he should get big mins. The pts he takes away on D> the pts he gives away on O. I know this isn't gonna win the popularity contest here tonight, but it's the truth.

I even watched in disbelief as he denied KD the ball a few times and KD respected him when he did get the ball and sap got switched onto him.

Great perspective from Quin in his post-game interview. Love him as our coach.

the year to turn the corner? Sorry dude. You need to lower your expectations. Hayward's contract year is the year where we expect at least a 2nd-round run, wth hopes making it to the conference finals.

Even before Dante, this was the year we figure out what we have with our roster. Do Rudy and Derrick fit together long-term? Is Booker our answer at the back-up 4? How does Trey Lyles fit in our long-term vision? Can Burke excel in the backup PG role? Can Hood, Burks, and Hayward coexist? What are our roster needs? By that point in time, many of our players will be sufficiently nurtured, and grown. THey'll know their roles, we'll have roster continuity, chemistry, and it'll be easy to accommodate new talent. There is question mark after question mark with this team.

Next year is the year we ****ing go for it, for obvious reasons. For one, it'll be hard to convince Hayward to re-sign if we don't. That's when we make a splash in FA to go for a PG, or a very good 3rd big.

the player +/- is simply the point differential for the team when the player is on the court. not 19 other variables

19 is just a random number, but my point is that tons of other variables contribute to that number besides what Millsap did.

Let's say Hayward, Hood, and Burks miss a bunch of shots while Millsap is on the court and other OKC players that Millsap isn't guarding happen to make more of their shots.

Bam, Millsap's +/- is instantly worse and it has nothing to do with him.

That is why it is a retarded stat to draw any meaningful conclusions from, especially from a single game. The vast majority of the variables that contributed to that +15 number had nothing whatsoever to do with anything Millsap did.

You expected the Jazz to pull out all of these close wins against elite teams this year? Without Gobert for a lot of them and without Exum for all of them?

The Jazz are still the 4th youngest team in the league bro.
