What's new

GT: Jazz v Pacers, Sat. 12/5/15 @7:00pm

No, because you cited the foul count and FTA count as the reason why it was bad both ways.

By using "against" I took it as intentionally against the Jazz, to cost them the game. I disagreed with that. I used FTs and total fouls to show I didn't think that as if it was then Indy would have more FTs than Utah and more fouls.

But it seems you were saying that the calls against Utah were horrible. I can agree with that. So I probably misunderstood your original post and that's my fault.

Either way whatever.

Jazz won and I am happy about it.

More thoughts:

I really hope we cut Millsap and try out some other 10 day contract talent. This dude just isn't NBA material. I thought he did a good job on defense last year, but so far he has been a foul machine this year and is still a tragedy on the offensive end.

I agree 100%.

Chris Johnson is clearly better than him.

He's become a pretty good passer at times. People have questioned his ability to not be a "me first" type of guy in the past. I think he's learning that when he gets into the lane, he doesn't have to force it if it's not there. Not saying he forces it a lot, because he somehow hits those that seemed forced, I'm just saying he "seems" like he more willing to share the ball.

Paul George looks first team All NBA

Hard to argue after tonight's game, though nothing he did on the defensive end really stuck out to me and he kind of choked the game for them too missing that wide open 3 with :18 left that would have iced the game.

Any doubts in the Lyles pick can be put to rest. Kid is a rockstar.

Becasue I thought the bad officiating stretched beyond Utah?

To me "against" would be more biased in the Pacers favor. Refs sucked don't get me wrong, I just don't think it was gaisnt any team in particular is all. Plenty of bad calls to go around.

Seems to be the theme of the serason and not just Jazz games. Wonder why, has there been some big ref change I don't know about?

How about the one where Miles got blocked by the rim and no one even touched him.

Or the Chris Johnson foul on George where he didn't touch him either but when he landed his foot may have brushed ever so slightly against PG's foot, though it was hard to tell if that even happened -- you call that a foul?

Or the several times Favors got mugged under the basket with no foul?

Or the time George just bulled his way in against Millsap who was in front of him knocking Millsap back and yet the foul called on Millsap?

And was that Mahimi's foul or Hood's on that play where Hood had position and Mahimi reached over his back?

And was that actually a moving screen by Withey who was simply moving toward the basket and Trey following him, to use him as a pick?

It was making me wonder if the refs had bet money on the game it was so bad.

Booner and Boller were biting their tongues in disgust.

I probably forgot a half dozen other bad calls that went against the Jazz.

"Derrick Favors drove along a barely-used desert road. It had been almost an hour since he had seen any sign of civilization, here in the barren Utah flatlands. The only lights he had seen were his rental car's headlights, illuminating the night when he dared to use them. He was totally lost now, and he knew it. His phone would have told him perfectly where he was, had he not destroyed it a mere 10 minutes into his journey. It lay in broken pieces on the passenger seat, next to the red-stained hammer that had done the deed.

He came to another unmarked crossroads. He stopped, a look of intense concentration on his face, then turned left, only to double back and choose another random direction. He had done this repeatedly on his winding journey, as if to shake off a pursuer.

Suddenly, he stopped, as if satisfied that he had evaded all followers. He clambered out of the sedan, fumbled with the trunk latch, and reached inside. The sense of caution that had marked his travels had disappeared, now, he bore a smile as he retrieved a shovel and a bulky object encased in a large white cloth. He hoisted the object over his shoulder and began to walk.

After venturing so far into the desert that he could only faintly discern the outline of his vehicle, he placed the object on the ground and began to dig. His basketball player's frame and the loose soil made the task easy; before long, he had a hole half as deep as he was tall, and twice as long. He placed the object in the hole, sprinkled it with the remains of his phone, and, whistling, began to cover it again with soil. Again, it was a quick job. As he walked back to his car, he turned back to look at his handiwork. No traces of his presence remained, at least, any that were noticeable to a human.

Derrick could sense the sun readying itself for the new day as he drove away from the scene. He smiled; it was a new day for him as well. He drove for a long time, not bothering to attempt to retrace his steps. He knew that, eventually, he'd find his way home. A home that would have a new appreciation for him.

"Thanks, Rudy" he muttered as the sun finally peeked above the horizon."

A few random comments:

1) What a hell of a game. Except I only set my DVR to record a half hour instead of an hour beyond the end time, so I saw the Jazz up by 3 in OT with 8 seconds left and had no idea how the game ended. I still don't even know what happened on the last play. This has now happened to me 4 times or so, and you'd think I'd learn to just do it by an hour now, but apparently I'm an idiot.

2) I wish we could see just half of that Favors every game of the season, though he's close this season. Damn he was dominant. And that elbowing foul on George was such an awful call.

3) Booker willed the team to get to OT in the 4th quarter. He's a great asset when he's out there hustling, which is starting to happen more often as the season goes.

4) I was happy to see the good Trey today. Was unhappy to see the bad Alec today.

and finally....

QUIT ****ING FOULING 3 POINT SHOOTERS!!!!! Good god I don't think I've ever seen that 5 times in a game before. It was unreal.

It was exactly what I hate... So inconsistent and so much based on the reaction of the player vs what you can actually see. Also soooo many late calls... Snyder gave them the bizness though.

The call that bothered me the most, other than that pathetic flop by George, was Trey losing a layup after a moving screen was called. You could hear the Pacers Head Coach yell for one and it was whistled like 3 seconds later. I've never seen refs obey the orders of the coaches before. These refs were worthless.

That was the second most fun I've ever had at a Jazz game.
