Jazz have 8 under contract, still gotta sign 5 more. Let's see who ends up being closest to reality. Here's my guess:

-Matthews is matched
-AK moved in a salary dump. Trade Exception and a future first with some protection on it coming back (I don't think this happens until the trade deadline, but is necessary to do thanks to the matching of Matthews offer sheet)
-Fes is signed
-Tolliver is signed
-Shannon Brown is signed
-Jeremy Evans get's an opening day roster spot.
 
I don't think we'll sign Tolliver, Brown , and Matthews..maybe 2 of the 3 although i'm thinking more along the lines of Brewer and one of those 3. I actually think they'll let Fes walk. AK I agree on unless he's having a phenomenal yr and the Jazz are at the top of the western conference at the deadline.

-Jeffers sticks due to his defense, barely beating out Gardner

Not too original, but Sloan likes to reward players who have "paid their dues." That's why I give an edge to Gaines and Jeffers. And Evans showed some hops in the OSL. He's too good an athlete to not just keep around as the 13th man and see if he can gain some weight.
 
I would rather say what I want to happen....

Trade AK to New Jersey or New York for a trade exception and a 2nd round pick.

Just checked hoopshype.com to see if there is any new rumors out there. They report that Portland is moving forward under the assumption that Utah will indeed match the Matthews offer. Wonder if it's just Portland preparing for the worst, of if they've been leaked some info on the Jazz's intentions......
 
Barring an unforseen trade, my guesses:
-Sign Ronnie Brewer or Shannon Brown to backup CJ/AK
-Resign Fes
-Resign Gaines
-Sign Jeremy Evans (473k) and Jermario Davidson (880k) to minimum non-guranteed contracts
...leaving something like this as our opening day roster

SG Miles Brewer-or-Brown
SF Kirilenko Hayward Evans
PF Millsap Okur Davidson
C Jefferson Fesenko

They really can't now, with Koufos going to Minnesota in the Jefferson deal. Can't have Jefferson (a hybrid 4/5) and Okur (still injured) as the only centers on the roster. And Fes will (or should) be relatively cheap to retain.
 
I sure wish we could get better at back-up PG. I think it's one of the positions that never gets talked about yet hurts us the most. I realize D-Will plays a huge chunk of every game, but when he's out the drop-off is huge.

The solution would be to let AK play the point and let Price play off the ball but Sloan isn't that smart.

But I agree Price hurts us badly when he comes in the game. I wish Price was traded. Gaines was the 3rd point guard. And we signed a veteran PG.
 
I don't know but this is a lineup I'd like:

PG - Deron, Patty Mills
SG - Fernandez, Brewer
SF - CJ, Hayward, Evans
PF - Millsap, AK
C - Jefferson, Memo, Fes

That's only 12, so Jazz still need an additional player - a 3rd PG or another PF for depth, although Evans can maybe do spot minutes there. Brewer or AK can play 3rd PG if you wanna bring in Tolliver or something.

In this dream scenario Jazz agree to not match the Matthews offer if Portland agrees to trade Fernandez and Mills for various trade exceptions.
 
Fes is signed, Shannon Brown is signed, want Tolliver or Harrington but Amundson will sign, want Barnes or Butler but Brew Crew will sign and Evans gets the last spot.

I would love for this to happen...... will it? Probably not, but It would be amazing if it did. AK is great but moving him is better.

^^^ and maybe a Collins brother or 2 if Memo's recovery runs into any snags

Jazz have serious interest in Brew crew and Brown and finally barnes name is mentioned. Get 2/3 of these guys and Amundson or Tolliver and we are contenders IMO
 
mostly a dream scenario but hell it's not being a fan without wishful thinking. Right?

Sign Mike Miller to MLE or just over using TPE.
Resign Fessenko
Sign Sign Brown from the Lakers
Have 2 of Augustine, Gaines and Evans make the roster. Whomever earns it in camp. Call it an off-season.
