Guess the remaining roster moves

The Jazz will sign Fesenko and expect him to continue to make strides. Trading Koufos gives Fess the back-up job.

The Jazz will think hard about matching Matthews if they think he is an asset worth keeping and trading in the future. A SG who is young, plays hard and plays both sides of the ball has value in the league. Roger Mason isn't a substitute. They'll simultaneously explore a few trades for other players in the league they like, hoping to make one rather than swallowing Matthews' luxury tax hit.

The Jazz can sign Matthews and look to move either AK or Okur during the season if the right deal presents itself. Gordon Hayward isn't ready to start at SG and should really pick up Korver's 20 mins. per game.

This inverted approach of trading players for picks and trade exceptions, and then using those assets to get players for teams that are restructuring, is a good idea for a small-market team like the Jazz that needs proven talent in order to improve the roster.

We match Matthews. We then trade AK and Matthews to NOLA for Chris Paul. Chris Paul plays PG Dwill at the sg. F U Portland. :P

Okay for realz

Trade AK
S&T for Al Harrington
Sign Shannon brown
Match Matthews
Sign Fes
Sign Evans
Sign Brewer.

lol.

Okay for real for real

Sign Fes
Sign Brewer
Sign Brown
Sign Evans
Sign Jeffers

I agree that backup PG is an overlooked spot. We need to definitely get better there.

I see the biggest remaining needs as

1. 4th wing, who can shoot a bit and defend
2. backup PG
3. 3rd string center.

Sign Ronnie Brewer (part of MLE), Jarron Collins (veteran minimum or biannual exception), and Shannon Brown (part of the MLE)

Just checked hoopshype.com to see if there is any new rumors out there. They report that Portland is moving forward under the assumption that Utah will indeed match the Matthews offer. Wonder if it's just Portland preparing for the worst, of if they've been leaked some info on the Jazz's intentions......

Hoopshype has been EXTREMELY slow to update their info. This a.m. when I checked they still had the old story that Dallas was negotiating with Minnesota but Utah had moved in as a strong suitor,Listen to the interview with KOC and Locke. KOC mentions some roster moves very soon. Earlier report said the Jazz were going to take the full 7 days to decide. And believe me, they're pissed off at Portland. If Utah was going to match, they'd want to tie up Portland's money for as long as possible. That way, maybe the next best options are gone for the Blazers. That's gamesmanship.

I read a line somewhere this evening from KOC that siad trading Koufos made it more likely the Jazz would keep Fesenko. Maybe there hasn't been a lot of interest in Fes and the Jazz will just re-sign him to a contract. HE showed some promise and he's a decent guy to have as an emergency starter/designated banger. Give him a 2-year deal with a team option for a third.

1) Maynor trade exception plus second round pick for Rudy Fernandez
2) Let Matthews go
3) Resign Fesenko
4) Sign Brown or Brewer. If Brown, Gaines is let go. If Brewer, Jeffers let go.
5) Sign Jeremy Evans, who is immediately sent to Flash

-Sign Jeremy Evans (473k) and Jermario Davidson (880k) to minimum non-guranteed contracts
If we learned anything this year it is that we should be very careful with handing out short-term contracts to players that might actually prove to be good NBA-material. For God`s sake get in at team option for a 2nd and 3rd year in the Evans deal.

Someone is going to sign JC Carroll as their 3rd point guard this year. Just a well be us. I like him more than Gaines.

-Matthews is not matched.
-Brewer is signed
-Fesenko is signed
-Gaines makes roster
-Evans makes roster
-Jeffers sticks due to his defense, barely beating out Gardner

Not too original, but Sloan likes to reward players who have "paid their dues." That's why I give an edge to Gaines and Jeffers. And Evans showed some hops in the OSL. He's too good an athlete to not just keep around as the 13th man and see if he can gain some weight.

Yes, not orginal but I think the same too..

- Matthews walks
- Brewer signs
- Fes resigns
- Gaines/Jeffers/Agustine fills out the roster
