I'd really like to get out of mine. Has anybody done this? This smartphone **** is ****ing highway robbery... talk about useless spending...

Yeah Verizon's prices are horrible buddy. Great service, but crazy prices.
I recently told Verizon to stick it, and had my phone flashed to Cricket.

They're almost as good as Verizon, and the 3g seems even faster in some areas.

sorry, you're gonna have to explain this to me (I'm not a tech-dude). Does having your phone "flashed" mean that you got out of your contract? Did cricket buy out your contract? I know Credo will do that, but they don't seem to have a plan that is worth ****.

Yeah I get ya.
It means I took my existing Verizon phone to Cricket, and they flashed the software to work on Crickets network instead.
I actually just bailed on my contract, and bought it out myself through payments.
I've never heard of Credo, and I'm also not sure if Cricket buys out contracts.
I basically just called Verizon, and told them I couldn't pay what they charge anymore, and to let me out of my contract.
They made a deal with me for a lot less than the typical buyout.

Naos, I am curious, how much more it is than what you had before, and how it has disappointed you. Is it costing you more than you thought when you signed up, or is the pleasure of having it less than you thought it would be?

my plan is very competitive for what I signed up for. The problem is that, in the end, I just don't use or want all this. I've tried to get into it for a year, but I'm just bored of the 'really cool' things that are supposed to revolutionize my life.

Jimminy Christmas, son. Don't piddle yourself over spilled milk for crying out loud. Why Mildred said using your cellular telephone to troll on this flibbity flab thing you youngsters call the Jazzfanz on the world wide web is neater than a pocket on a shirt and worth the price alone.

NAOS, how much are you paying per month?

$80.. which equals as many minutes and text as I'll ever conceivably use + unlimited data. Apparently, it's a plan that they don't even offer anymore, and a lot of smartphoners would love it. I'm just not that guy.

Yeah man, that is a dang good deal compared to the rest of us.
Cricket is still cheaper though.

I know somebody. I asked him to do something.

I really do know somebody that works for Verizon. She said that if you have a relative call in and say that you're dead or have some sort of malady that prevents you from using your phone they can cancel the plan. She said that 3rd degree burns on your hands should work. Maybe a coma from being in a car wreck. By law they cannot request medical proof or verification so they have to take your word for it. She did say that they can of course see your phone usage so you would probably need to turn the phone off for a couple of weeks and not use it...
