turns out this team is probably about as good as a lot of people thought they would be last summer. whoops.
No. As I've mentioned before, all these "calm down bro" arguements will look pretty silly at the end of the season when 3 wins separates 199 combinations from 43.
All these posts freaking out look silly now and they will still look silly then. Yes it is a very tough road and yes the Jazz need as many Ls as possible. All granted and beyond arguement.
Now I am not talking about the posts where a poster is bummed we won. I am as well. For example that Orlando game. Man I wish we had lost that. I am talking about these posts of people freaking out. We have people refusing to watch games and post because they Jazz won 2-3 more games than they would have liked. Stupid.
I also don't want the Jazz to turn into the Cleveland Cavs or the Washington Wizards. Always getting a top 5 pick every year, still terrible. Landing #1 doesn't mean a championship (in fact, only the Spurs who were lucky enough to get Robinson and Duncan at the right time have won with a top 1 pick that they drafted.) Name a #1 besides Duncan and Lebron that has had any kind of post season success in recent years? Howard went to a finals once. ... hmm so 3 #1s overall have gone to a finals since 97. Not only that, to win a championship it takes veteran star power. Lebron didn't win until he was paired up with Bosh and Wade (9 years after being in the NBA..) Garnett didn't win one until paired with Pierce and Allen (over 10 years in the NBA at that point.) Duncan and the Spurs are the exception rather than a rule. Lakers won with Kobe paired with Shaq and then later when paired with Gasol. The Mavs won with a bunch of veterans around Nowitski.
My point is, you don't win a championship with high draft picks, you win with solid veterans and star power. Most of the time you're not going to get that in the draft.
To be honest I do not think that is a legitimate concern for Utah. Utah has a ton of cap space going into next year and several expiring roster spots. Either way I expect Utah to be much better next year. Wether it is thru the draft, God willing, or thru free agency. There is a culture of trying to win and be competitive here in Utah. Taking 1 year out to develop our youth against a great draft and free agency will not suddenly inspire a culture of losing like some other teams. Utah fans wont go for that and the Millers know it.

I don't know anyone advocating that. I also don't know why advocating a tank one year implies that we'll follow that revolving door year after year like a bunch of these other terrible franchises.
I think the more appropriate question is how many championships came from people selected #1 or below, because that's essentially what you're choosing here. You may be getting a little too caught up in the specific numbering as if a historical precedent is in place.
So how do you suggest we go about getting solid veterans and star power?
I'm not saying you can't build a good team through the draft, the Thunder have done it. But rooting for your team to lose is a bad way to go about it. Utah will be in the lottery, which for this draft, is all you need to be. Personally, I'm glad we got a bunch of huge expiring contracts, a lottery pick (even if it isn't top 3), and a blank slate for next season. (Really we're committed to basically Favors/Burke beyond this season if we really want, which isn't a bad place to be.)
I hate losing. I hate watching fans "rooting" for the team to lose. I want the Jazz to win every game regardless if that is "what we should be rooting for" or not.
We beat the Lakers. I don't care if it wasn't "their best team" it was still the Lakers and watching them go silent on FB for a day or two was great. Even better, I got them to admit that their team sucks. How great is that?

Yeah. They are fans. It is their obligation to watch games no matter how much what they are seeing upsets them. Above all they shouldn't be allowed to express their opinion on an internet forum if it doesn't match with Stoked.

I want a high draft pick and I'm really not voting for wins. But what some on here are doing is really funny. They won...Oh woes me they have no chance at a title now...I'll just announce on a Jazz forum that I'm done with the team until they start losing. Those statement to me are silly, stupid, and funny to me.

Here is a news flash. There is more than one way to get to a title. And so far the model you all want the Jazz to follow (the Thunder way) has not produced a title.
The Spurs have 4. Just saying lol.
Speaking of "freaking out", "refusing to watch games and post"..... If the Jazz screw up the tank then I will likely stop caring about this team and become a bandwagon fan waiting to jump on if they somehow contend ever again. I don't want to invest myself into a franchise that is unwilling to do what it takes, especially when that is so damn easy to accomplish this year. I don't care if they don't get the #1 or 2 pick; I care if they refuse to put themselves into a position that gives great odds at landing a top pick.

I feel that so far they have done so so far. Still work to do and I'd like them to take further action to help ensure that we do get a top 3 pick.

True but they did not do it by having a young developing team and getting a great player. They had a roster full of injured veterans and kept them out to get a great rookie. They also got extremely lucky. They drew out in the draft and had a player like Duncan available. I don't think therefore that they used the same system as what people here expect.
